經文: 翰七40-49
40 眾人聽見這話，有的說：「這真是那先知。」 41 有的說：「這是基督。」但也有的說：「基督豈是從加利利出來的嗎？ 42 經上豈不是說『基督是大衛的後裔，從大衛本鄉伯利恆出來的』嗎？」 43 於是眾人因著耶穌起了紛爭。 44其中有人要捉拿他，只是無人下手。 45 差役回到祭司長和法利賽人那裡。他們對差役說：「你們為甚麼沒有帶他來呢？」 46 差役回答說：「從來沒有像他這樣說話的！」 47 法利賽人說：「你們也受了迷惑嗎？ 48 官長或是法利賽人豈有信他的呢？ 49 但這些不明白律法的百姓是被咒詛的！」
默想: 有人說耶穌是先知，有人認為耶穌是基督，有人則是根本瞧不起耶穌，這些在一起為了耶穌起了爭論。當時候有許多人不信耶穌是基督，甚至包括他的弟兄也是。(四5)猶太人的領袖由於不相信耶穌，所以命人下手去捉拿耶穌。但是去的人，到了那裡，卻沒有將耶穌帶回來，因為「從來沒有人像他這樣說話的。」(四46)這些差役的反映，引起了法利賽人的惱怒，「你們也受了迷惑嗎？…」。法利賽人，仗者自己對律法的了解，認為自己的觀點才是正確的。所以斷言：「這些不明白律法的百姓是被咒詛的！」這種想法與自己不一樣、觀點不同，就是被咒詛的，是很絕對的。法利賽人中，有不少人就是用這種態度來看耶穌。我們要反省，在我們的教會裡，我們是用什麼態度來面對那些與我們不同的人。包括信仰的不同、教派的不同、解釋聖經的不同、領受感動的不同。這些不同中，我們用什麼態度去面對呢？求神幫助我們，要常常謙卑，避免落入法利賽人式的自以為義，認為自己擁有「律法的解釋權」，就認為自己一定是對的。有時候，某些基督徒，常常會有一種以上對下的態度，認為別人是「不信的」、「拜偶像的」、「外邦人」或是「信心不足」、「不屬靈」、「初信的」、「不冷不熱的」、「不追求」的，求神幫助我們，免去「屬靈的驕傲」，學習「各人看別人比自己強」，持守真理，但謙卑對人。
題目: 本章經文中，不同的人對耶穌，有不同的認知，你對此有何看法呢？
7:1 這事以後，耶穌在加利利遊行，不願在猶太遊行，因為猶太人想要殺他。
After this Jesus went about in Galilee; he would not go about in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
7:2 當時猶太人的住棚節近了。
Now the Jews' feast of Tabernacles was at hand.
7:3 耶穌的弟兄就對他說：「你離開這裡上猶太去吧，叫你的門徒也看見你所行的事。
So his brothers said to him, "Leave here and go to Judea, that your disciples may see the works you are doing.
7:4 人要顯揚名聲，沒有在暗處行事的；你如果行這些事，就當將自己顯明給世人看。」
For no man works in secret if he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world."
7:5 因為連他的弟兄說這話，是因為不信他。
For even his brothers did not believe in him.
7:6 耶穌就對他們說：「我的時候還沒有到；你們的時候常是方便的。
Jesus said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always here.
7:7 世人不能恨你們，卻是恨我，因為我指證他們所做的事是惡的。
The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify of it that its works are evil.
7:8 你們上去過節吧，我現在不上去過這節，因為我的時候還沒有滿。」
Go to the feast yourselves; I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come."
7:9 耶穌說了這話，仍舊住在加利利。
So saying, he remained in Galilee.
7:10 但他弟兄上去以後，他也上去過節，不是明去，似乎是暗去的。
But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private.
7:11 正在節期，猶太人尋找耶穌，說：「他在哪裡？」
The Jews were looking for him at the feast, and saying, "Where is he?"
7:12 眾人為他紛紛議論，有的說：「他是好人。」有的說：「不然，他是迷惑眾人的。」
And there was much muttering about him among the people. While some said, "He is a good man," others said, "No, he is leading the people astray."
7:13 只是沒有人明明地講論他，因為怕猶太人。
Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him.
7:14 到了節期，耶穌上殿裡去教訓人。
About the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
7:15 猶太人就希奇，說：「這個人沒有學過，怎麼明白書呢？」
The Jews marveled at it, saying, "How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?"
7:16 耶穌說：「我的教訓不是我自己的，乃是那差我來者的。
So Jesus answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me;
7:17 人若立志遵著他的旨意行，就必曉得這教訓或是出於 神，或是我憑著自己說的。
if any man's will is to do his will, he shall know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.
7:18 人憑著自己說，是求自己的榮耀；惟有求那差他來者的榮耀，這人是真的，在他心裡沒有不義。
He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.
7:19 摩西豈不是傳律法給你們嗎？你們卻沒有一個人守律法。為甚麼想要殺我呢？」
Did not Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?"
7:20 眾人回答說：「你是被鬼附著了！誰想要殺你？」
The people answered, "You have a demon! Who is seeking to kill you?"
7:21 耶穌說：「我做了一件事，你們都以為希奇。
Jesus answered them, "I did one deed, and you all marvel at it.
7:22 摩西傳割禮給你們（其實不是從摩西起的，乃是從祖先起的），因此你們也在安息日給人行割禮。
Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man upon the sabbath.
7:23 人若在安息日受割禮，免得違背摩西的律法，我在安息日叫一個人全然好了，你們就向我生氣嗎？
If on the sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because on the sabbath I made a man's whole body well?
7:24 不可按外貌斷定是非，總要按公平斷定是非。」
Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment."
7:25 耶路撒冷人中有的說：「這不是他們想要殺的人嗎？
Some of the people of Jerusalem therefore said, "Is not this the man whom they seek to kill?
7:26 你看他還明明地講道，他們也不向他說甚麼，難道官長真知道這是基督嗎？
And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ?
7:27 然而，我們知道這個人從哪裡來；只是基督來的時候，沒有人知道他從哪裡來。」
Yet we know where this man comes from; and when the Christ appears, no one will know where he comes from."
7:28 那時，耶穌在殿裡教訓人，大聲說：「你們也知道我，也知道我從哪裡來；我來並不是由於自己。但那差我來的是真的。你們不認識他，
So Jesus proclaimed, as he taught in the temple, "You know me, and you know where I come from? But I have not come of my own accord; he who sent me is true, and him you do not know.
7:29 我卻認識他；因為我是從他來的，他也是差了我來。」
I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me."
7:30 他們就想要捉拿耶穌；只是沒有人下手，因為他的時候還沒有到。
So they sought to arrest him; but no one laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come.
7:31 但眾人中間有好些信他的，說：「基督來的時候，他所行的神蹟豈能比這人所行的更多嗎？」
Yet many of the people believed in him; they said, "When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?"
7:32 法利賽人聽見眾人為耶穌這樣紛紛議論，祭司長和法利賽人就打發差役去捉拿他。
The Pharisees heard the crowd thus muttering about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
7:33 於是耶穌說：「我還有不多的時候和你們同在，以後就回到差我來的那裡去。
Jesus then said, "I shall be with you a little longer, and then I go to him who sent me;
7:34 你們要找我，卻找不著；我所在的地方你們不能到。」
you will seek me and you will not find me; where I am you cannot come."
7:35 猶太人就彼此對問說：「這人要往哪裡去，叫我們找不著呢？難道他要往散住希臘中的猶太人那裡去教訓希臘人嗎？
The Jews said to one another, "Where does this man intend to go that we shall not find him? Does he intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?
7:36 他說：『你們要找我，卻找不著；我所在的地方，你們不能到』，這話是甚麼意思呢？」
What does he mean by saying, `You will seek me and you will not find me,' and, `Where I am you cannot come'?"
7:37 節期的末日，就是最大之日，耶穌站著高聲說：「人若渴了，可以到我這裡來喝。
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and proclaimed, "If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink.
7:38 信我的人就如經上所說：『從他腹中要流出活水的江河來。』」
He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, `Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.'"
7:39 耶穌這話是指著信他之人要受聖靈說的。那時還沒有賜下聖靈來，因為耶穌尚未得著榮耀。
Now this he said about the Spirit, which those who believed in him were to receive; for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
7:40 眾人聽見這話，有的說：「這真是那先知。」
When they heard these words, some of the people said, "This is really the prophet."
7:41 有的說：「這是基督。」但也有的說：「基督豈是從加利利出來的嗎？
Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "Is the Christ to come from Galilee?
7:42 經上豈不是說『基督是大衛的後裔，從大衛本鄉伯利恆出來的』嗎？」
Has not the scripture said that the Christ is descended from David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"
7:43 於是眾人因著耶穌起了紛爭。
So there was a division among the people over him.
7:44 其中有人要捉拿他，只是無人下手。
Some of them wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him.
7:45 差役回到祭司長和法利賽人那裡。他們對差役說：「你們為甚麼沒有帶他來呢？」
The officers then went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why did you not bring him?"
7:46 差役回答說：「從來沒有像他這樣說話的！」
The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this man!"
7:47 法利賽人說：「你們也受了迷惑嗎？
The Pharisees answered them, "Are you led astray, you also?
7:48 官長或是法利賽人豈有信他的呢？
Have any of the authorities or of the Pharisees believed in him?
7:49 但這些不明白律法的百姓是被咒詛的！」
But this crowd, who do not know the law, are accursed."
7:50 內中有尼哥德慕，就是從前去見耶穌的，對他們說：
Nicode'mus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them,
7:51 「不先聽本人的口供，不知道他所做的事，難道我們的律法還定他的罪嗎？」
"Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?"
7:52 他們回答說：「你也是出於加利利嗎？你且去查考，就可知道加利利沒有出過先知。」
They replied, "Are you from Galilee too? Search and you will see that no prophet is to rise from Galilee."
