經文: 約三5-8；16-19
3:5-8 耶穌說：「我實實在在地告訴你，人若不是從水和聖靈生的，就不能進 神的國。從肉身生的就是肉身；從靈生的就是靈。我說：『你們必須重生』，你不要以為希奇。風隨著意思吹，你聽見風的響聲，卻不曉得從哪�來，往哪�去；凡從聖靈生的，也是如此。」
3:16-19 「 神愛世人，甚至將他的獨生子賜給他們，叫一切信他的，不致滅亡，反得永生。因為 神差他的兒子降世，不是要定世人的罪（或譯：審判世人；下同），乃是要叫世人因他得救。信他的人，不被定罪；不信的人，罪已經定了，因為他不信 神獨生子的名。光來到世間，世人因自己的行為是惡的，不愛光，倒愛黑暗，定他們的罪就是在此。
默想: 「人若不是從水和聖靈生的，就不能進上帝的國」一個人若沒有得到新的生命，就沒有辦法理解屬靈的事。尼哥底母知道耶穌是神那裡來做師傅，知道他所行的神蹟，也知道耶穌有上帝的同在。但是尼哥底母還是沒重生，這提醒我們來教會，不單只是知道耶穌所行的神蹟，也不單是聽耶穌教訓人的道理，或者我們得到一個好的道德、行為而已。要進入上帝國，我們必須認識真理、從聖靈重生，得到永生。當我們的生命還停留在肉身，就不能了解屬靈的事，也無法與上帝建立真的關係。所以耶穌說「上帝愛世人，甚至將他的獨生子賜給他們，叫一切信他的，不致滅亡，反得永生。」這句話提醒我們，照著我們原來的狀況，我們都是要「滅亡」的，是因為得著了耶穌才「不致」滅亡」，「反得」永生的。所以重要的是，我們是否真正相信了耶穌是上帝的兒子，並且相信祂為我們的罪死在十字架上？是否我們真的讓耶穌成為我們的救主與生命的主？耶穌說：「認識你獨一的真神，並且認識你所差來的耶穌基督，這就是永生」。(約十七3)這是否是我們所真實經驗的？
題目: 從本章1節到15節耶穌與尼哥底母對話中你學到那些屬靈功課呢？
3:1 有一個法利賽人，名叫尼哥德慕，是猶太人的官。
Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicode'mus, a ruler of the Jews.
3:2 這人夜裡來見耶穌，說：「拉比，我們知道你是由 神那裡來作師傅的；因為你所行的神蹟，若沒有 神同在，無人能行。」
This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him."
3:3 耶穌回答說：「我實實在在地告訴你，人若不重生，就不能見 神的國。」
Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
3:4 尼哥德慕說：「人已經老了，如何能重生呢？豈能再進母腹生出來嗎？」
Nicode'mus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?"
3:5 耶穌說：「我實實在在地告訴你，人若不是從水和聖靈生的，就不能進 神的國。
Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
3:6 從肉身生的就是肉身；從靈生的就是靈。
That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
3:7 我說：『你們必須重生』，你不要以為希奇。
Do not marvel that I said to you, `You must be born anew.'
3:8 風隨著意思吹，你聽見風的響聲，卻不曉得從哪裡來，往哪裡去；凡從聖靈生的，也是如此。」
The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know whence it comes or whither it goes; so it is with every one who is born of the Spirit."
3:9 尼哥德慕問他說：「怎能有這事呢？」
Nicode'mus said to him, "How can this be?"
3:10 耶穌回答說：「你是以色列人的先生，還不明白這事嗎？
Jesus answered him, "Are you a teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand this?
3:11 我實實在在地告訴你，我們所說的是我們知道的；我們所見證的是我們見過的；你們卻不領受我們的見證。
Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen; but you do not receive our testimony.
3:12 我對你們說地上的事，你們尚且不信，若說天上的事，如何能信呢？
If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
3:13 除了從天降下、仍舊在天的人子，沒有人升過天。
No one has ascended into heaven but he who descended from heaven, the Son of man.
3:14 摩西在曠野怎樣舉蛇，人子也必照樣被舉起來，
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up,
3:15 叫一切信他的都得永生（或譯：叫一切信的人在他裡面得永生）。
that whoever believes in him may have eternal life."
3:16 「 神愛世人，甚至將他的獨生子賜給他們，叫一切信他的，不致滅亡，反得永生。
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
3:17 因為 神差他的兒子降世，不是要定世人的罪（或譯：審判世人；下同），乃是要叫世人因他得救。
For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
3:18 信他的人，不被定罪；不信的人，罪已經定了，因為他不信 神獨生子的名。
He who believes in him is not condemned; he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
3:19 光來到世間，世人因自己的行為是惡的，不愛光，倒愛黑暗，定他們的罪就是在此。
And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
3:20 凡作惡的便恨光，並不來就光，恐怕他的行為受責備。
For every one who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
3:21 但行真理的必來就光，要顯明他所行的是靠 神而行。」
But he who does what is true comes to the light, that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been wrought in God.
3:22 這事以後，耶穌和門徒到了猶太地，在那裡居住，施洗。
After this Jesus and his disciples went into the land of Judea; there he remained with them and baptized.
3:23 約翰在靠近撒冷的哀嫩也施洗；因為那裡水多，眾人都去受洗。
John also was baptizing at Ae'non near Salim, because there was much water there; and people came and were baptized.
3:24 （那時約翰還沒有下在監裡。）
For John had not yet been put in prison.
3:25 約翰的門徒和一個猶太人辯論潔淨的禮，
Now a discussion arose between John's disciples and a Jew over purifying.
3:26 就來見約翰，說：「拉比，從前同你在約旦河外、你所見證的那位，現在施洗，眾人都往他那裡去了。」
And they came to John, and said to him, "Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you bore witness, here he is, baptizing, and all are going to him."
3:27 約翰說：「若不是從天上賜的，人就不能得甚麼。
John answered, "No one can receive anything except what is given him from heaven.
3:28 我曾說：『我不是基督，是奉差遣在他前面的』，你們自己可以給我作見證。
You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.
3:29 娶新婦的就是新郎；新郎的朋友站著，聽見新郎的聲音就甚喜樂。故此，我這喜樂滿足了。
He who has the bride is the bridegroom; the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice; therefore this joy of mine is now full.
3:30 他必興旺，我必衰微。」
He must increase, but I must decrease."
3:31 「從天上來的是在萬有之上；從地上來的是屬乎地，他所說的也是屬乎地。從天上來的是在萬有之上。
He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth belongs to the earth, and of the earth he speaks; he who comes from heaven is above all.
3:32 他將所見所聞的見證出來，只是沒有人領受他的見證。
He bears witness to what he has seen and heard, yet no one receives his testimony;
3:33 那領受他見證的，就印上印，證明 神是真的。
he who receives his testimony sets his seal to this, that God is true.
3:34 神所差來的就說 神的話，因為 神賜聖靈給他是沒有限量的。
For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for it is not by measure that he gives the Spirit;
3:35 父愛子，已將萬有交在他手裡。
the Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.
3:36 信子的人有永生；不信子的人得不著永生（原文是不得見永生）， 神的震怒常在他身上。」
He who believes in the Son has eternal life; he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him.
