經文: 創世紀 14:14 亞伯蘭聽見他姪兒（原文作弟兄）被擄去，就率領他家裡生養的精練壯丁三百一十八人，直追到但。
默想: 不久之前，他的姪子抓住亞伯拉罕的慷慨大量，毫不手軟就立刻挑了如同伊甸園水草豐富的所多瑪平原。讓作為叔父的亞伯拉罕，留在比較貧瘠的山坡地。那裡知道，羅得自以為上算的選擇，卻讓他遭到被四國聯軍強奪擄掠的結局。亞伯拉罕一聽到他的姪子羅得一家也在被擄的群眾當中，二話不說，立刻叫齊了他平常訓練有素的壯丁318人，連夜追趕那四國聯軍，把在舉行慶功宴而疏於防範的四國聯軍打得落花流水，將羅得全家都搶救回來。求主教導我，學習亞伯拉罕的寬宏大量，不計前嫌的胸懷。
題目: 14:21-24 為何亞伯蘭要拒絕所多瑪的財物？你有何看法與學習？
14:1 當暗拉非作示拿王，亞略作以拉撒王，基大老瑪作以攔王，提達作戈印王的時候，
In the days of Am'raphel king of Shinar, Ar'ioch king of Ella'sar, Ched-or-lao'mer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goi'im,
14:2 他們都攻打所多瑪王比拉、蛾摩拉王比沙、押瑪王示納、洗扁王善以別，和比拉王；比拉就是瑣珥。
these kings made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomor'rah, Shinab king of Admah, Sheme'ber king of Zeboi'im, and the king of Bela (that is, Zo'ar).
14:3 這五王都在西訂谷會合；西訂谷就是鹽海。
And all these joined forces in the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).
14:4 他們已經事奉基大老瑪十二年，到十三年就背叛了。
Twelve years they had served Ched-or-lao'mer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
14:5 十四年，基大老瑪和同盟的王都來在亞特‧律加寧，殺敗了利乏音人，在哈麥殺敗了蘇西人，在沙微基列亭殺敗了以米人，
In the fourteenth year Ched-or-lao'mer and the kings who were with him came and subdued the Reph'aim in Ash'teroth-karna'im, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Sha'veh-kiriatha'im,
14:6 在何利人的西珥山殺敗了何利人，一直殺到靠近曠野的伊勒‧巴蘭。
and the Horites in their Mount Se'ir as far as El-paran on the border of the wilderness;
14:7 他們回到安‧密巴，就是加低斯，殺敗了亞瑪力全地的人，以及住在哈洗遜他瑪的亞摩利人。
then they turned back and came to Enmish'pat (that is, Kadesh), and subdued all the country of the Amal'ekites, and also the Amorites who dwelt in Haz'azon-ta'mar.
14:8 於是所多瑪王、蛾摩拉王、押瑪王、洗扁王，和比拉王（比拉就是瑣珥）都出來，在西訂谷擺陣，與他們交戰，
Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomor'rah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboi'im, and the king of Bela (that is, Zo'ar) went out, and they joined battle in the Valley of Siddim
14:9 就是與以攔王基大老瑪、戈印王提達、示拿王暗拉非、以拉撒王亞略交戰；乃是四王與五王交戰。
with Ched-or-lao'mer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goi'im, Am'raphel king of Shinar, and Ar'ioch king of Ella'sar, four kings against five.
14:10 西訂谷有許多石漆坑。所多瑪王和蛾摩拉王逃跑，有掉在坑裡的，其餘的人都往山上逃跑。
Now the Valley of Siddim was full of bitumen pits; and as the kings of Sodom and Gomor'rah fled, some fell into them, and the rest fled to the mountain.
14:11 四王就把所多瑪和蛾摩拉所有的財物，並一切的糧食都擄掠去了；
So the enemy took all the goods of Sodom and Gomor'rah, and all their provisions, and went their way;
14:12 又把亞伯蘭的姪兒羅得和羅得的財物擄掠去了。當時羅得正住在所多瑪。
they also took Lot, the son of Abram's brother, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
14:13 有一個逃出來的人告訴希伯來人亞伯蘭；亞伯蘭正住在亞摩利人幔利的橡樹那裡。幔利和以實各並亞乃都是弟兄，曾與亞伯蘭聯盟。
Then one who had escaped came, and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner; these were allies of Abram.
14:14 亞伯蘭聽見他姪兒【原文作弟兄】被擄去，就率領他家裡生養的精練壯丁三百一十八人，直追到但，
When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.
14:15 便在夜間，自己同僕人分隊殺敗敵人，又追到大馬士革左邊的何把，
And he divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and routed them and pursued them to Hobah, north of Damascus.
14:16 將被擄掠的一切財物奪回來，連他姪兒羅得和他的財物，以及婦女、人民也都奪回來。
Then he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his kinsman Lot with his goods, and the women and the people.
14:17 亞伯蘭殺敗基大老瑪和與他同盟的王回來的時候，所多瑪王出來，在沙微谷迎接他；沙微谷就是王谷。
After his return from the defeat of Ched-or-lao'mer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley).
14:18 又有撒冷王麥基洗德帶著餅和酒出來迎接；他是至高 神的祭司。
And Mel-chiz'edek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was priest of God Most High.
14:19 他為亞伯蘭祝福，說：「願天地的主、至高的 神賜福與亞伯蘭！
And he blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, maker of heaven and earth;
14:20 至高的 神把敵人交在你手裡，是應當稱頌的！」亞伯蘭就把所得的拿出十分之一來，給麥基洗德。
and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!"
14:21 所多瑪王對亞伯蘭說：「你把人口給我，財物你自己拿去吧！」
And the king of Sodom said to Abram, "Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself."
14:22 亞伯蘭對所多瑪王說：「我已經向天地的主─至高的 神耶和華起誓：
But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have sworn to the LORD God Most High, maker of heaven and earth,
14:23 凡是你的東西，就是一根線、一根鞋帶，我都不拿，免得你說：『我使亞伯蘭富足！』
that I would not take a thread or a sandal-thong or anything that is yours, lest you should say, `I have made Abram rich.'
14:24 只有僕人所吃的，並與我同行的亞乃、以實各、幔利所應得的分，可以任憑他們拿去。」
I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me; let Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre take their share."

W4 2011-01-20 (傳8:1-9:18)
經文: 傳道書 8:11 因為斷定罪名不立刻施刑，所以世人滿心作惡。
默想: 上帝的定罪與施刑之間的延遲，應該不是耽延，乃是寬容，不願有一人沉淪，乃願人人都悔改。(彼後3:9) 但是卻產生一個副作用，就是世人誤以為沒有上帝，或是充滿慈愛的上帝將不會忍心施行公義的審判，或是上帝沒有能力來審判全世界，因此，世人滿心作惡。求主幫助我，不要因為你延遲而不立刻執行審判，就放縱自己行惡。
題目: 你對於世人無法查明上帝在宇宙所施行一切作為的奧秘有何看法呢？
8:1 誰如智慧人呢？誰知道事情的解釋呢？人的智慧使他的臉發光，並使他臉上的暴氣改變。
Who is like the wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man's wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his countenance is changed.
8:2 我勸你遵守王的命令；既指 神起誓，理當如此。
Keep the king's command, and because of your sacred oath be not dismayed;
8:3 不要急躁離開王的面前，不要固執行惡，因為他凡事都隨自己的心意而行。
go from his presence, do not delay when the matter is unpleasant, for he does whatever he pleases.
8:4 王的話本有權力，誰敢問他說「你做甚麼呢？」
For the word of the king is supreme, and who may say to him, "What are you doing?"
8:5 凡遵守命令的，必不經歷禍患；智慧人的心能辨明時候和定理（原文是審判；下節同）。
He who obeys a command will meet no harm, and the mind of a wise man will know the time and way.
8:6 各樣事務成就都有時候和定理，因為人的苦難重壓在他身上。
For every matter has its time and way, although man's trouble lies heavy upon him.
8:7 他不知道將來的事，因為將來如何，誰能告訴他呢？
For he does not know what is to be, for who can tell him how it will be?
8:8 無人有權力掌管生命，將生命留住；也無人有權力掌管死期；這場爭戰，無人能免；邪惡也不能救那好行邪惡的人。
No man has power to retain the spirit, or authority over the day of death; there is no discharge from war, nor will wickedness deliver those who are given to it.
8:9 這一切我都見過，也專心查考日光之下所做的一切事。有時這人管轄那人，令人受害。
All this I observed while applying my mind to all that is done under the sun, while man lords it over man to his hurt.
8:10 我見惡人埋葬，歸入墳墓；又見行正直事的離開聖地，在城中被人忘記。這也是虛空。
Then I saw the wicked buried; they used to go in and out of the holy place, and were praised in the city where they had done such things. This also is vanity.
8:11 因為斷定罪名不立刻施刑，所以世人滿心作惡。
Because sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the sons of men is fully set to do evil.
8:12 罪人雖然作惡百次，倒享長久的年日；然而我準知道，敬畏 神的，就是在他面前敬畏的人，終久必得福樂。
Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I know that it will be well with those who fear God, because they fear before him;
8:13 惡人卻不得福樂，也不得長久的年日；這年日好像影兒，因他不敬畏 神。
but it will not be well with the wicked, neither will he prolong his days like a shadow, because he does not fear before God.
8:14 世上有一件虛空的事，就是義人所遭遇的，反照惡人所行的；又有惡人所遭遇的，反照義人所行的。我說，這也是虛空。
There is a vanity which takes place on earth, that there are righteous men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the wicked, and there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.
8:15 我就稱讚快樂，原來人在日光之下，莫強如吃喝快樂；因為他在日光之下， 神賜他一生的年日，要從勞碌中，時常享受所得的。
And I commend enjoyment, for man has no good thing under the sun but to eat and drink, and enjoy himself, for this will go with him in his toil through the days of life which God gives him under the sun.
8:16 我專心求智慧，要看世上所做的事。（有晝夜不睡覺不合眼的。）
When I applied my mind to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done on earth, how neither day nor night one's eyes see sleep;
8:17 我就看明 神一切的作為，知道人查不出日光之下所做的事；任憑他費多少力尋查，都查不出來，就是智慧人雖想知道，也是查不出來。
then I saw all the work of God, that man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun. However much man may toil in seeking, he will not find it out; even though a wise man claims to know, he cannot find it out.
