Israelites Rebeled Against King Rehoboam

經文: 歷代志下 10:4 你父親使我們負重軛做苦工，現在求你使我們做的苦工負的重軛輕鬆些，我們就事奉你。
默想: 當所羅門王去世之後，百姓推派代表請耶羅波安帶領他們去向新登基為王的羅波安請願。從他們請願的內容，讓我們看見所羅門王的一切豐功偉業的美歷表相的背後，其實存在著老百姓負重軛作苦工的全民買單的重大代價。老百姓盼望新登基的國王能夠體恤人民的困苦，稍微減輕人民的重擔。羅波安要他們先回家等三天，他利用這三天去請教他的國策顧問群，這是他可取之處，但是當他的國策顧問群給他不同的建議時，他卻選則了新官上任三把火的下馬威策略，想不到不只沒有達到建立他在百姓心目中威信的目的，反而造成官逼民反的悲慘下場。求主幫助我，能夠從羅波安的故事學習多體諒別人的軟弱與困苦，不要濫用自己的權柄。
題目: 羅波安選擇聽從少年人的計劃，導致以色列家背叛大衛家直到今日(v19)。試想:羅波安不聽老人言，對你是否有所提醒？
10:1 羅波安往示劍去，因為以色列人都到了示劍，要立他作王。
Rehobo'am went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.
10:2 尼八的兒子耶羅波安先前躲避所羅門王，逃往埃及，住在那裡；他聽見這事，就從埃及回來。
And when Jerobo'am the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was in Egypt, whither he had fled from King Solomon), then Jerobo'am returned from Egypt.
10:3 以色列人打發人去請他，他就和以色列眾人來見羅波安，對他說：
And they sent and called him; and Jerobo'am and all Israel came and said to Rehobo'am,
10:4 「你父親使我們負重軛做苦工，現在求你使我們做的苦工負的重軛輕鬆些，我們就事奉你。」
"Your father made our yoke heavy. Now therefore lighten the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke upon us, and we will serve you."
10:5 羅波安對他們說：「第三日再來見我吧！」民就去了。
He said to them, "Come to me again in three days." So the people went away.
10:6 羅波安之父所羅門在世的日子，有侍立在他面前的老年人，羅波安王和他們商議，說：「你們給我出個甚麼主意，我好回覆這民。」
Then King Rehobo'am took counsel with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he was yet alive, saying, "How do you advise me to answer this people?"
10:7 老年人對他說：「王若恩待這民，使他們喜悅，用好話回覆他們，他們就永遠作王的僕人。」
And they said to him, "If you will be kind to this people and please them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants for ever."
10:8 王卻不用老年人給他出的主意，就和那些與他一同長大、在他面前侍立的少年人商議，
But he forsook the counsel which the old men gave him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him and stood before him.
10:9 「說：『這民對我說：你父親使我們負重軛，求你使我們輕鬆些』；你們給我出個甚麼主意，我好回覆他們。」
And he said to them, "What do you advise that we answer this people who have said to me, `Lighten the yoke that your father put upon us'?"
10:10 那同他長大的少年人說：「這民對王說：『你父親使我們負重軛，求你使我們輕鬆些』；王要對他們如此說：『我的小拇指比我父親的腰還粗；
And the young men who had grown up with him said to him, "Thus shall you speak to the people who said to you, `Your father made our yoke heavy, but do you lighten it for us'; thus shall you say to them, `My little finger is thicker than my father's loins.
10:11 我父親使你們負重軛，我必使你們負更重的軛；我父親用鞭子責打你們，我要用蠍子鞭責打你們。』」
And now, whereas my father laid upon you a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.'"
10:12 耶羅波安和眾百姓遵著羅波安王所說「你們第三日再來見我」的那話，第三日他們果然來了。
So Jerobo'am and all the people came to Rehobo'am the third day, as the king said, "Come to me again the third day."
10:13 羅波安王用嚴厲的話回覆他們，不用老年人所出的主意，
And the king answered them harshly, and forsaking the counsel of the old men,
10:14 照著少年人所出的主意對他們說：「我父親使你們負重軛，我必使你們負更重的軛；我父親用鞭子責打你們，我要用蠍子鞭責打你們。」
King Rehobo'am spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, "My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions."
10:15 王不肯依從百姓；這事乃出於 神，為要應驗耶和華藉示羅人亞希雅對尼八兒子耶羅波安所說的話。
So the king did not hearken to the people; for it was a turn of affairs brought about by God that the LORD might fulfil his word, which he spoke by Ahi'jah the Shi'lonite to Jerobo'am the son of Nebat.
10:16 以色列眾民見王不依從他們，就對王說：我們與大衛有甚麼分兒呢？與耶西的兒子並沒有關涉！以色列人哪，各回各家去吧！大衛家啊，自己顧自己吧！於是，以色列眾人都回自己家裡去了。
And when all Israel saw that the king did not hearken to them, the people answered the king, "What portion have we in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Each of you to your tents, O Israel! Look now to your own house, David." So all Israel departed to their tents.
10:17 惟獨住在猶大城邑的以色列人，羅波安仍作他們的王。
But Rehobo'am reigned over the people of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah.
10:18 羅波安王差遣掌管服苦之人的哈多蘭往以色列人那裡去，以色列人就用石頭打死他。羅波安王急忙上車，逃回耶路撒冷去了。
Then King Rehobo'am sent Hador'am, who was taskmaster over the forced labor, and the people of Israel stoned him to death with stones. And King Rehobo'am made haste to mount his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
10:19 這樣，以色列人背叛大衛家，直到今日。
So Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David to this day.
Rehobo'am went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.
