默想: 本段經文讓我們看到大衛當代文化對付戰敗敵人的高壓奴役體制。聖經對於這個當代文化的高壓奴役體制只是記載性的描述，留下歷史的記錄，並沒有加以倫理或是神學的批判或討論。一直到主耶穌基督來時，才有教導要善待你的敵人，為那逼迫你的人祝福禱告。當我們在面對當代文化中的價值體系與主耶穌的教導若有出入時，我們必須祈求主的施恩與憐憫，我們才能靠主的聖靈，心意更新而變化，才不會不知不覺的被當代文化壓入其模式當中而不自知。
題目: 約押攻打拉巴城，在將攻下城時，請大衛來率軍攻佔該城，將功勞歸於大衛(參撒下12:26-31)試問：約押為何不自己戰勝，再邀功？

20:1 過了一年，到列王出戰的時候，約押率領軍兵毀壞亞捫人的地，圍攻拉巴；大衛仍住在耶路撒冷。約押攻打拉巴，將城傾覆。
In the spring of the year, the time when kings go forth to battle, Jo'ab led out the army, and ravaged the country of the Ammonites, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. And Jo'ab smote Rabbah, and overthrew it.
20:2 大衛奪了亞捫人之王【王或作瑪勒堪。瑪勒堪即米勒公，是亞捫族之神名】所戴的金冠冕，其上的金子重一他連得，又嵌著寶石；人將這冠冕戴在大衛頭上。大衛從城裡奪了許多財物，
And David took the crown of their king from his head; he found that it weighed a talent of gold, and in it was a precious stone; and it was placed on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city, a very great amount.
20:3 將城裡的人拉出來，放在鋸下，或鐵耙下，或鐵斧下【或作強他們用鋸，或用打糧食的鐵器，或用鐵斧作工】，大衛待亞捫各城的居民都是如此。其後大衛和眾軍都回耶路撒冷去了。
And he brought forth the people who were in it, and set them to labor with saws and iron picks and axes; and thus David did to all the cities of the Ammonites. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
20:4 後來，以色列人在基色與非利士人打仗。戶沙人西比該殺了偉人的一個兒子細派，非利士人就被制伏了。
And after this there arose war with the Philistines at Gezer; then Sib'becai the Hu'shathite slew Sip'pai, who was one of the descendants of the giants; and the Philistines were subdued.
20:5 又與非利士人打仗。睚珥的兒子伊勒哈難殺了迦特人歌利亞的兄弟拉哈米；這人的槍桿粗如織布的機軸。
And there was again war with the Philistines; and Elha'nan the son of Ja'ir slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
20:6 又在迦特打仗。那裡有一個身量高大的人，手腳都是六指，共有二十四個指頭，他也是偉人的兒子。
And there was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number; and he also was descended from the giants.
20:7 這人向以色列人罵陣，大衛的哥哥示米亞的兒子約拿單就殺了他。
And when he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shim'e-a, David's brother, slew him.
20:8 這三個人是迦特偉人的兒子，都死在大衛和他僕人的手下。
These were descended from the giants in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
