W4 2012-05-03 (撒上11)
經文: 撒母耳記上 11:11-15 第二日，掃羅將百姓分為三隊，在晨更的時候入了亞捫人的營，擊殺他們直到太陽近午，剩下的人都逃散，沒有二人同在一處的。百姓對撒母耳說：「那說『掃羅豈能管理我們』的是誰呢？可以將他交出來，我們好殺死他。」掃羅說：「今日耶和華在以色列中施行拯救，所以不可殺人。」撒母耳對百姓說：「我們要往吉甲去，在那裡立國。」眾百姓就到了吉甲那裡，在耶和華面前立掃羅為王，又在耶和華面前獻平安祭。掃羅和以色列眾人大大歡喜。
默想: 雖然撒母耳經由公開摯籤的方式當眾抽出掃羅為王，但是以色列人還是須要親眼看見掃羅的領導以色列人，好在戰場上面戰勝敵人，才會大家同心的擁立掃羅為王。亞捫王拿轄企圖侮辱基列雅比人的事件剛好提供給掃羅一個當眾展示他的軍事領導能力的機會。當全體以色列人都同心願意擁立掃羅為王時，有人甚至提議，要將那些對掃羅不尊敬不接納的以色列人蒐索出來並且殺死，用以殺雞儆猴。掃羅卻將這次的勝利歸功於耶和華的施恩與拯救，並且反對殺死他們。我們看到掃羅剛開始要為王時，他對於耶和華的依靠與感恩，以及對於與他作對的人的寬宏大量，應該可以成為一位很理想的君王。求主幫助我，對於自己的成功，能夠對神感恩，對人寬宏。
題目: 掃羅打敗亞捫人。上主透過此役，讓原本不認同掃羅的以色列民認同他的能力。試想我們是否有時也會因為他人的條件，而有不認同或不理解上帝的選召？（v12）
11:1 亞捫人的王拿轄上來，對著基列•雅比安營。雅比眾人對拿轄說：「你與我們立約，我們就服事你。」
Then Nahash the Ammonite went up and besieged Ja'besh-gil'ead; and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Make a treaty with us, and we will serve you."
11:2 亞捫人拿轄說：「你們若由我剜出你們各人的右眼，以此凌辱以色列眾人，我就與你們立約。」
But Nahash the Ammonite said to them, "On this condition I will make a treaty with you, that I gouge out all your right eyes, and thus put disgrace upon all Israel."
11:3 雅比的長老對他說：「求你寬容我們七日，等我們打發人往以色列的全境去；若沒有人救我們，我們就出來歸順你。」
The elders of Jabesh said to him, "Give us seven days respite that we may send messengers through all the territory of Israel. Then, if there is no one to save us, we will give ourselves up to you."
11:4 使者到了掃羅住的基比亞，將這話說給百姓聽，百姓就都放聲而哭。
When the messengers came to Gib'e-ah of Saul, they reported the matter in the ears of the people; and all the people wept aloud.
11:5 掃羅正從田間趕牛回來，問說：「百姓為甚麼哭呢？」眾人將雅比人的話告訴他。
Now Saul was coming from the field behind the oxen; and Saul said, "What ails the people, that they are weeping?" So they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.
11:6 掃羅聽見這話，就被 神的靈大大感動，甚是發怒。
And the spirit of God came mightily upon Saul when he heard these words, and his anger was greatly kindled.
11:7 他將一對牛切成塊子，託付使者傳送以色列的全境，說：「凡不出來跟隨掃羅和撒母耳的，也必這樣切開他的牛。」於是耶和華使百姓懼怕，他們就都出來，如同一人。
He took a yoke of oxen, and cut them in pieces and sent them throughout all the territory of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, "Whoever does not come out after Saul and Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen!" Then the dread of the LORD fell upon the people, and they came out as one man.
11:8 掃羅在比色數點他們：以色列人有三十萬，猶大人有三萬。
When he mustered them at Bezek, the men of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
11:9 眾人對那使者說：「你們要回覆基列•雅比人說，明日太陽近午的時候，你們必得解救。」使者回去告訴雅比人，他們就歡喜了。
And they said to the messengers who had come, "Thus shall you say to the men of Ja'besh-gil'ead: `Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance.'" When the messengers came and told the men of Jabesh, they were glad.
11:10 於是雅比人對亞捫人說：「明日我們出來歸順你們，你們可以隨意待我們。」
Therefore the men of Jabesh said, "Tomorrow we will give ourselves up to you, and you may do to us whatever seems good to you."
11:11 第二日，掃羅將百姓分為三隊，在晨更的時候入了亞捫人的營，擊殺他們直到太陽近午，剩下的人都逃散，沒有二人同在一處的。
And on the morrow Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and cut down the Ammonites until the heat of the day; and those who survived were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.
11:12 百姓對撒母耳說：「那說『掃羅豈能管理我們』的是誰呢？可以將他交出來，我們好殺死他。」
Then the people said to Samuel, "Who is it that said, `Shall Saul reign over us?' Bring the men, that we may put them to death."
11:13 掃羅說：「今日耶和華在以色列中施行拯救，所以不可殺人。」
But Saul said, "Not a man shall be put to death this day, for today the LORD has wrought deliverance in Israel."
11:14 撒母耳對百姓說：「我們要往吉甲去，在那裡立國。」
Then Samuel said to the people, "Come, let us go to Gilgal and there renew the kingdom."
11:15 眾百姓就到了吉甲那裡，在耶和華面前立掃羅為王，又在耶和華面前獻平安祭。掃羅和以色列眾人大大歡喜。
So all the people went to Gilgal, and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal. There they sacrificed peace offerings before the LORD, and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
Then Nahash the Ammonite went up and besieged Ja'besh-gil'ead; and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Make a treaty with us, and we will serve you."

And they said to the messengers who had come, "Thus shall you say to the men of Ja'besh-gil'ead: `Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance.'" When the messengers came and told the men of Jabesh, they were glad.

So all the people went to Gilgal, and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal. There they sacrificed peace offerings before the LORD, and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.

「撒母耳將國法對百姓說明，又記在書上，放在耶和華面前，然後遣散眾民，各回各家去了。掃羅往基比亞回家去，有神感動的一群人跟隨他。但有些匪徒說：「這人怎能救我們呢？」就藐視他，沒有送他禮物；掃羅卻不理會」。（撒上 10:25-27）
回覆刪除『撒母耳對百姓說：「我們要往吉甲去，在那裡立國。」眾百姓就到了吉甲那裡，在耶和華面前立掃羅為王，又在耶和華面前獻平安祭。掃羅和以色列眾人大大歡喜』。（撒母耳記上 11:14-15）
從以上兩處經文，把撒上11:14節與撒上10:25～27節作一個比較；我們看到掃羅的跟隨著的改變：原本那些不認同掃羅的以色列民，卻在戰役得勝後，認同掃羅的能力。我們也發現掃羅戰勝亞捫人，加增了他治國的權柄。可見掃羅有上帝的靈同在的能力在他裏面的經驗，使他轉變成為百姓的真正領袖和統帥。
但從上一章，我們更看到加冕後的掃羅並沒有馬上統治整個國家（撒上 10:26），卻回到家鄉去幫助畜牧的工作（撒上 11:5）。畜牧工作使他得到鍛煉和作好準備的工夫去對付非利士那些「剛勇的戰士」。
求主幫助我們，在教會或機構中服事，有些時候，我們不能了解神為什麼會選召某一位同工出來服事，從外在條件來看，我們可能不以為然；但神是看人的內心，就好像神的靈改造掃羅有一個新的心，聖靈與他同在，賜他能力，把他帶到家鄉去做畜牧的工作來訓練他。求主憐憫，不要看人的外表條件，讓我們有寬廣的心胸，尊重神所揀選的，祂必有預備，裝備他，讓他有所歷練以後，以愛心來接待他，扶持他，鼓勵他，相信神所揀選的，正如提摩太後書 2:21 所說：人若自潔，脫離卑賤的事，就必作貴重的器皿，成為聖潔，合乎主用，預備行各樣的善事；這位神所選召的同工，假以時日，必會成為神重用的貴重的器皿。
