經文: 撒母耳記上 13:11-12 撒母耳說：「你做的是什麼事呢？」掃羅說：「因為我見百姓離開我散去，你也不照所定的日期來到，而且非利士人聚集在密抹。所以我心裡說：恐怕我沒有禱告耶和華。非利士人下到吉甲攻擊我，我就勉強獻上燔祭。
默想: 掃羅被撒母耳膏抹成為以色列首任國王，才兩年之久就不遵行耶和華的命令。當他被撒母耳發現了他沒有等到撒母耳到達現場，就自己獻上燔祭在壇上。當撒母耳問他為何要如此做時，掃羅並沒有直接的向撒母耳與耶和華認罪，尋求耶和華的赦免。他講到他內心的害怕與不安，撒母耳的遲到現場，非利士人的聚集在密抹等等藉口，企圖來掩蓋他不遵守耶和華命令的罪行。撒母耳卻直接的指出掃羅的錯誤與愚笨。很可惜的是，掃羅並沒有抓住機會，請撒母耳為他向耶和華禱告，祈求耶和華赦免的恩典。保羅也沒有從這次的失敗經驗中學到寶貴的屬靈功課。求主幫助我，當犯罪時，願意即刻向耶和華認罪悔改，尋求上帝饒恕的恩典。
題目: 非利士人不傳授打鐵技術給以色列人(v19)，藉以防止他們製兵器反抗。但從故事的結局看來，上主卻是主宰著爭戰的勝敗，試問，你曾否體會「有人靠車有人靠馬，但我要提到耶和華的名」?
13:1 掃羅登基年四十歲；作以色列王二年的時候，
Saul was . . . years old when he began to reign; and he reigned . . . and two years over Israel.
13:2 就從以色列中揀選了三千人：二千跟隨掃羅在密抹和伯特利山，一千跟隨約拿單在便雅憫的基比亞；其餘的人掃羅都打發各回各家去了。
Saul chose three thousand men of Israel; two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and the hill country of Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gib'e-ah of Benjamin; the rest of the people he sent home, every man to his tent.
13:3 約拿單攻擊迦巴、非利士人的防營，非利士人聽見了。掃羅就在遍地吹角，意思說，要使希伯來人聽見。
Jonathan defeated the garrison of the Philistines which was at Geba; and the Philistines heard of it. And Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, "Let the Hebrews hear."
13:4 以色列眾人聽見掃羅攻擊非利士人的防營，又聽見以色列人為非利士人所憎惡，就跟隨掃羅聚集在吉甲。
And all Israel heard it said that Saul had defeated the garrison of the Philistines, and also that Israel had become odious to the Philistines. And the people were called out to join Saul at Gilgal.
13:5 非利士人聚集，要與以色列人爭戰，有車三萬輛，馬兵六千，步兵像海邊的沙那樣多，就上來在伯•亞文東邊的密抹安營。
And the Philistines mustered to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and troops like the sand on the seashore in multitude; they came up and encamped in Michmash, to the east of Beth-a'ven.
13:6 以色列百姓見自己危急窘迫，就藏在山洞、叢林、石穴、隱密處，和坑中。
When the men of Israel saw that they were in straits (for the people were hard pressed), the people hid themselves in caves and in holes and in rocks and in tombs and in cisterns,
13:7 有些希伯來人過了約旦河，逃到迦得和基列地。掃羅還是在吉甲，百姓都戰戰兢兢地跟隨他。
or crossed the fords of the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead. Saul was still at Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling.
13:8 掃羅照著撒母耳所定的日期等了七日。撒母耳還沒有來到吉甲，百姓也離開掃羅散去了。
He waited seven days, the time appointed by Samuel; but Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and the people were scattering from him.
13:9 掃羅說：「把燔祭和平安祭帶到我這裡來。」掃羅就獻上燔祭。
So Saul said, "Bring the burnt offering here to me, and the peace offerings." And he offered the burnt offering.
13:10 剛獻完燔祭，撒母耳就到了。掃羅出去迎接他，要問他好。
As soon as he had finished offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him and salute him.
13:11 撒母耳說：「你做的是甚麼事呢？」掃羅說：「因為我見百姓離開我散去，你也不照所定的日期來到，而且非利士人聚集在密抹。
Samuel said, "What have you done?" And Saul said, "When I saw that the people were scattering from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines had mustered at Michmash,
13:12 所以我心裡說：恐怕我沒有禱告耶和華。非利士人下到吉甲攻擊我，我就勉強獻上燔祭。」
I said, `Now the Philistines will come down upon me at Gilgal, and I have not entreated the favor of the LORD'; so I forced myself, and offered the burnt offering."
13:13 撒母耳對掃羅說：「你做了糊塗事了，沒有遵守耶和華─你 神所吩咐你的命令。若遵守，耶和華必在以色列中堅立你的王位，直到永遠。
And Samuel said to Saul, "You have done foolishly; you have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which he commanded you; for now the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel for ever.
13:14 現在你的王位必不長久。耶和華已經尋著一個合他心意的人，立他作百姓的君，因為你沒有遵守耶和華所吩咐你的。」
But now your kingdom shall not continue; the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart; and the LORD has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you."
13:15 撒母耳就起來，從吉甲上到便雅憫的基比亞。掃羅數點跟隨他的，約有六百人。
And Samuel arose, and went up from Gilgal to Gib'e-ah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people who were present with him, about six hundred men.
13:16 掃羅和他兒子約拿單，並跟隨他們的人，都住在便雅憫的迦巴；但非利士人安營在密抹。
And Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people who were present with them, stayed in Geba of Benjamin; but the Philistines encamped in Michmash.
13:17 有掠兵從非利士營中出來，分為三隊：一隊往俄弗拉向書亞地去，
And raiders came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies; one company turned toward Ophrah, to the land of Shu'al,
13:18 一隊往伯•和崙去，一隊往洗波音谷對面的地境向曠野去。
another company turned toward Beth-hor'on, and another company turned toward the border that looks down upon the valley of Zebo'im toward the wilderness.
13:19 那時，以色列全地沒有一個鐵匠；因為非利士人說，恐怕希伯來人製造刀槍。
Now there was no smith to be found throughout all the land of Israel; for the Philistines said, "Lest the Hebrews make themselves swords or spears";
13:20 以色列人要磨鋤、犁、斧、鏟，就下到非利士人那裡去磨。
but every one of the Israelites went down to the Philistines to sharpen his plowshare, his mattock, his axe, or his sickle;
13:21 但有銼可以銼鏟、犁、三齒叉、斧子，並趕牛錐。
and the charge was a pim for the plowshares and for the mattocks, and a third of a shekel for sharpening the axes and for setting the goads.
13:22 所以到了爭戰的日子，跟隨掃羅和約拿單的人沒有一個手裡有刀有槍的，惟獨掃羅和他兒子約拿單有。
So on the day of the battle there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people with Saul and Jonathan; but Saul and Jonathan his son had them.
13:23 非利士人的一隊防兵到了密抹的隘口。
And the garrison of the Philistines went out to the pass of Michmash.
Saul was . . . years old when he began to reign; and he reigned . . . and two years over Israel.
13:2 就從以色列中揀選了三千人：二千跟隨掃羅在密抹和伯特利山，一千跟隨約拿單在便雅憫的基比亞；其餘的人掃羅都打發各回各家去了。

Samuel said, "What have you done?" And Saul said, "When I saw that the people were scattering from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines had mustered at Michmash,
13:12 所以我心裡說：恐怕我沒有禱告耶和華。非利士人下到吉甲攻擊我，我就勉強獻上燔祭。」
I said, `Now the Philistines will come down upon me at Gilgal, and I have not entreated the favor of the LORD'; so I forced myself, and offered the burnt offering."
13:13 撒母耳對掃羅說：「你做了糊塗事了，沒有遵守耶和華─你 神所吩咐你的命令。若遵守，耶和華必在以色列中堅立你的王位，直到永遠。

「非利士人聚集，要與以色列人爭戰，有車三萬輛，馬兵六千，步兵像海邊的沙那樣多，就上來在伯亞文東邊的密抹安營。以色列百姓見自己危急窘迫，就藏在山洞、叢林、石穴、隱密處，和坑中」。(撒上 13:5-6)
回覆刪除「有人靠車，有人靠馬，但我們要提到耶和華我們神的名」。(詩篇 20:7) -- Some boast in chariots and some in horses, But we will boast in the name (שֵׁם (šēm) name.) of the LORD, our God.
在十三章中，我們看見非利士人聚集，要與以色列人爭戰，掃羅處在一個艱難的處境：他們要應付那些非利士人，雖然他們挑選出來的都是精兵（2節），可是敵軍的數目實在是太多了（5節）。
同時在本段經文裡，我們也看見掃羅犯了不敬虔的任意妄爲罪。當時非利士人集結在密抹，要攻打以色列人，撒母耳要掃羅在吉甲等他。時候到了，撒母耳還沒有出現，掃羅等得不耐煩，竟然侵越了祭司的職權，用自己一雙手獻上燔祭和平安祭。我們可以瞭解掃羅的焦慮，卻無法同意他所行的，掃羅失去信靠神的心，他濫用職權，不聽從撒母耳，不聽從耶和華。因爲他作王的第一條件，就是聽從神藉先知對他講的說話，他違背了。撒母耳便當面抵擋他，說：「你作了糊塗事了，沒有遵守耶和華你神所吩咐你的命令。」(撒上13：13)
掃羅擅自採取行動：可見他信靠的是人力馬力，不是耶和華。掃羅這種不聽從神和沒信心的表現於日後與亞瑪力人交戰一事（15章）仍舊可見，顯示他這次並沒有悔改，以致神終於要棄絕他。
求主幫助我們，身為一個基督徒，也是教會團契裡的肢體，或是基督教機構裡的同工，我們常常會發覺自己面臨困難的處境和在社會上工作的場所沒有兩樣；當我們發現：許多人辦事是靠關係，用人的方式來辦事，而不是照聖經典原則辦事時，求主來光照我們，讓我們手潔清心的服事。我們要認識神，敬畏神，照著聖經典原則來做事，不要怕得罪人，而忘記聖經的教導：「你們的話，是，就說是；不是，就說不是；若再多說，就是出於那惡者（或作就是從惡裡出來的）」。（馬太5:37）在這個人們講究人際關係的時代，人們常說：有關係就沒有關係。如何在這個金錢掛帥，談關係的時代，為了不要得罪人，又要走在真理（聖經的原則）上，我們會面對人事和工作上的困境，很為難。記得馬太福音 5:10告訴我們：「為義受逼迫的人有福了！因為天國是他們的」。如果，為了照聖經的原則來作事，而得罪了人，而遭到工作上的難處，失業，或背黑鍋。。。等。。。記住，為義受逼迫的人有福了！因為天國是他們的。求主幫助我們，我們憑信心來到主前，我們要順服主，聽從主動話，無論我們遇到多大的壓力，也不應該妄自行動，求主加添屬天地智慧，能分辨那些是聖經典原則，那些是人的方法，能勇敢地提到耶和華我們神的名，靠主而活。
