經文: 民數記 32:5 又說：我們若在你眼前蒙恩，求你把這地給我們為業，不要領我們過約但河。
默想: 我們看到在本章中，流便與迦得兩個支派 (流便是雅各妻子利亞為雅各所生出的長子，迦得則是利亞女僕悉帕為雅各所生的第七個兒子) 看到約但河東那片已經被以色列人征服的亞摩利人的王西宏與巴珊王噩的土地肥美，適合放牧，就主動向摩西提出，自願放棄進入迦南應許地的權利，就留在約但河東定居。摩西開始非常生氣，認為他們此舉會讓以色列人又灰心喪膽，像上次十二探子事件一樣。流便與迦得的族長向摩西拍胸膛保證，只先將婦女孩童與群畜留下。他們願意陪其他支派攻佔上帝所應許的迦南地。摩西才許可他們。結果是瑪拿西半支派也差上一腳，成為留在約但河東的兩個半支派。但是，當我們仔細看這兩個半支派後來在聖經中的記載，我們就發現，在以色列人征服迦南地之後，這兩個半支派的人，就在河東築壇，差點就引起河東與河西支派間之齟齬與戰爭。河東兩個半支派也是以色列十二個支派之中，最早被滅亡的支派 (王下15:29; 代上5:26)。先知以西結所見的末日異像中，流便、迦得與瑪拿西三個支派，都在上帝應許的迦南地分到一塊土地。摩西三番兩次交待以色列民，上帝所應許的迦南地是“過了約但河之地”。 (參閱民34:1-12) 由此，我們學到一個寶貴的屬靈功課，當上帝要應許我們的屬靈祝福時，我們很可能看見一些其他的好處與恩典，就自動放棄上帝所要賞賜給我們那上好的福分，而自動選擇次好的祝福，上帝也會許我們，但是我們就要付上自己自動放棄上好福分所帶來的代價。
題目: 流便與迦得的子孫向摩西的要求為何？摩西如何回答處理？在這件事情上你有何學習？
32:1 流便子孫和迦得子孫的牲畜極其眾多；他們看見雅謝地和基列地是可牧放牲畜之地，
Now the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle; and they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place for cattle.
32:2 就來見摩西和祭司以利亞撒，並會眾的首領，說：
So the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and said to Moses and to Elea'zar the priest and to the leaders of the congregation,
32:3 「亞大錄、底本、雅謝、寧拉、希實本、以利亞利、示班、尼波、比穩，
"At'aroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elea'leh, Sebam, Nebo, and Be'on,
32:4 就是耶和華在以色列會眾前面所攻取之地，是可牧放牲畜之地，你僕人也有牲畜」；
the land which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle; and your servants have cattle."
32:5 又說：「我們若在你眼前蒙恩，求你把這地給我們為業，不要領我們過約旦河。」
And they said, "If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession; do not take us across the Jordan."
32:6 摩西對迦得子孫和流便子孫說：「難道你們的弟兄去打仗，你們竟坐在這裡嗎？
But Moses said to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben, "Shall your brethren go to the war while you sit here?
32:7 你們為何使以色列人灰心喪膽、不過去進入耶和華所賜給他們的那地呢？
Why will you discourage the heart of the people of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD has given them?
32:8 我先前從加低斯•巴尼亞打發你們先祖去窺探那地，他們也是這樣行。
Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Ka'desh-bar'nea to see the land.
32:9 他們上以實各谷，去窺探那地回來的時候，使以色列人灰心喪膽，不進入耶和華所賜給他們的地。
For when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the people of Israel from going into the land which the LORD had given them.
32:10 當日，耶和華的怒氣發作，就起誓說：
And the LORD's anger was kindled on that day, and he swore, saying,
32:11 凡從埃及上來、二十歲以外的人斷不得看見我對亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓應許之地，因為他們沒有專心跟從我。
`Surely none of the men who came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, because they have not wholly followed me;
32:12 惟有基尼洗族耶孚尼的兒子迦勒和嫩的兒子約書亞可以看見，因為他們專心跟從我。
none except Caleb the son of Jephun'neh the Ken'izzite and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have wholly followed the LORD.'
32:13 耶和華的怒氣向以色列人發作，使他們在曠野飄流四十年，等到在耶和華眼前行惡的那一代人都消滅了。
And the LORD's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the LORD was consumed.
32:14 誰知，你們起來接續先祖，增添罪人的數目，使耶和華向以色列大發烈怒。
And behold, you have risen in your fathers' stead, a brood of sinful men, to increase still more the fierce anger of the LORD against Israel!
32:15 你們若退後不跟從他，他還要把以色列人撇在曠野，便是你們使這眾民滅亡。」
For if you turn away from following him, he will again abandon them in the wilderness; and you will destroy all this people."
32:16 兩支派的人挨近摩西，說：「我們要在這裡為牲畜壘圈，為婦人孩子造城。
Then they came near to him, and said, "We will build sheepfolds here for our flocks, and cities for our little ones,32:17 我們自己要帶兵器行在以色列人的前頭，好把他們領到他們的地方；但我們的婦人孩子，因這地居民的緣故，要住在堅固的城內。
but we will take up arms, ready to go before the people of Israel, until we have brought them to their place; and our little ones shall live in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
32:18 我們不回家，直等到以色列人各承受自己的產業。
We will not return to our homes until the people of Israel have inherited each his inheritance.
32:19 我們不和他們在約旦河那邊一帶之地同受產業，因為我們的產業是坐落在約旦河東邊這裡。」
For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond; because our inheritance has come to us on this side of the Jordan to the east."
32:20 摩西對他們說：「你們若這樣行，在耶和華面前帶著兵器出去打仗，
So Moses said to them, "If you will do this, if you will take up arms to go before the LORD for the war,
32:21 所有帶兵器的人都要在耶和華面前過約旦河，等他趕出他的仇敵，
and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan before the LORD, until he has driven out his enemies from before him
32:22 那地被耶和華制伏了，然後你們可以回來，向耶和華和以色列才為無罪，這地也必在耶和華面前歸你們為業。
and the land is subdued before the LORD; then after that you shall return and be free of obligation to the LORD and to Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD.
32:23 倘若你們不這樣行，就得罪耶和華，要知道你們的罪必追上你們。
But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD; and be sure your sin will find you out.
32:24 如今你們口中所出的，只管去行，為你們的婦人孩子造城，為你們的羊群壘圈。」
Build cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do what you have promised."
32:25 迦得子孫和流便子孫對摩西說：「僕人要照我主所吩咐的去行。
And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben said to Moses, "Your servants will do as my lord commands.
32:26 我們的妻子、孩子、羊群，和所有的牲畜都要留在基列的各城。
Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall remain there in the cities of Gilead;
32:27 但你的僕人，凡帶兵器的，都要照我主所說的話，在耶和華面前過去打仗。」
but your servants will pass over, every man who is armed for war, before the LORD to battle, as my lord orders."
32:28 於是，摩西為他們囑咐祭司以利亞撒和嫩的兒子約書亞，並以色列眾支派的族長，說：
So Moses gave command concerning them to Elea'zar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the people of Israel.
32:29 「迦得子孫和流便子孫，凡帶兵器在耶和華面前去打仗的，若與你們一同過約旦河，那地被你們制伏了，你們就要把基列地給他們為業。
And Moses said to them, "If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, every man who is armed to battle before the LORD, will pass with you over the Jordan and the land shall be subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession;
32:30 倘若他們不帶兵器和你們一同過去，就要在迦南地你們中間得產業。」
but if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan."
32:31 迦得子孫和流便子孫回答說：「耶和華怎樣吩咐僕人，僕人就怎樣行。
And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answered, "As the LORD has said to your servants, so we will do.
32:32 我們要帶兵器，在耶和華面前過去，進入迦南地，只是約旦河這邊、我們所得為業之地仍歸我們。」
We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan."
32:33 摩西將亞摩利王西宏的國和巴珊王噩的國，連那地和周圍的城邑，都給了迦得子孫和流便子孫，並約瑟的兒子瑪拿西半個支派。
And Moses gave to them, to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben and to the half-tribe of Manas'seh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land and its cities with their territories, the cities of the land throughout the country.
32:34 迦得子孫建造底本、亞他錄、亞羅珥、
And the sons of Gad built Dibon, At'aroth, Aro'er,
32:35 亞他錄•朔反、雅謝、約比哈、
At'roth-sho'phan, Jazer, Jog'behah,
32:36 伯寧拉、伯•哈蘭，都是堅固城。他們又壘羊圈。
Beth-nim'rah and Beth-har'an, fortified cities, and folds for sheep.
32:37 流便子孫建造希實本、以利亞利、基列亭、
And the sons of Reuben built Heshbon, Elea'leh, Kiriatha'im,
32:38 尼波、巴力•免、西比瑪（尼波、巴力免，名字是改了的），又給他們所建造的城另起別名。
Nebo, and Ba'al-me'on (their names to be changed), and Sibmah; and they gave other names to the cities which they built.
32:39 瑪拿西的兒子瑪吉，他的子孫往基列去，佔了那地，趕出那裡的亞摩利人。
And the sons of Machir the son of Manas'seh went to Gilead and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were in it.
32:40 摩西將基列賜給瑪拿西的兒子瑪吉，他子孫就住在那裡。
And Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manas'seh, and he settled in it.
32:41 瑪拿西的子孫睚珥去佔了基列的村莊，就稱這些村莊為哈倭特•睚珥。
And Ja'ir the son of Manas'seh went and took their villages, and called them Hav'voth-ja'ir.
32:42 挪巴去佔了基納和基納的鄉村，就按自己的名稱基納為挪巴。
And Nobah went and took Kenath and its villages, and called it Nobah, after his own name.
Now the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle; and they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place for cattle.
32:2 就來見摩西和祭司以利亞撒，並會眾的首領，說：
So the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and said to Moses and to Elea'zar the priest and to the leaders of the congregation,
32:3 「亞大錄、底本、雅謝、寧拉、希實本、以利亞利、示班、尼波、比穩，
"At'aroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elea'leh, Sebam, Nebo, and Be'on,

32:31 迦得子孫和流便子孫回答說：「耶和華怎樣吩咐僕人，僕人就怎樣行。
And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answered, "As the LORD has said to your servants, so we will do.
32:32 我們要帶兵器，在耶和華面前過去，進入迦南地，只是約旦河這邊、我們所得為業之地仍歸我們。」
We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan."
32:33 摩西將亞摩利王西宏的國和巴珊王噩的國，連那地和周圍的城邑，都給了迦得子孫和流便子孫，並約瑟的兒子瑪拿西半個支派。

在民數記三十二章，流便、迦得，和瑪拿西二支派半只為了目前和短暫的居住問題而忘記了上帝的應許：要將更多的土地賜給他們。竟然要求住在約但河東之地——剛佔領之土地。這要求看來是合理的，因爲他們的「牲畜極其衆多」——就像一切尋求妥協的要求一樣，但那只是妥協而已。以色列人之份是在迦南境內，不是迦南境外。他們只是憑眼見來選擇(「他們看見」第一節)，就像昔日羅得一樣(創18：10～11節)，他們不是憑信心，不是以上帝的旨意來選擇，忽視上帝的應許，只看約但河東可牧放牲畜之地（民32：1-5節），不願意與全體以色列人過約旦河（民32：5節）——漠視全體之利益。他們滿足於應許地之外的「可牧放牲畜之地」。
回覆刪除摩西之回應: 摩西十分聰明，他沒有與他們爭辯，也沒有發表他自己的意見，只是叫他們回憶神過往如何引領他們（8～13節），然後把目前的事對照一下（15節）。民32：6-15節很清楚告訴我們：弟兄去打仗，你們竟坐在這裏嗎？（民32：6節），爲何使以色列灰心喪膽（民32：7節）；何不過去進入上帝所賜之地（民32：7節）？摩西之吩咐他們要在耶和華面前帶著兵器出去打仗（民32：20，21節）；地被耶和華制伏了，然後你們可以回來（民32：21，22節）；不這樣行，就得罪耶和華（民32：22，23節）。摩西這番話起了功效。神的旨意和引導，在聖經中已完全明示，所以我們必須以神的話來作為我們生活的主要引導。
以色列人在進迦南的行程上，全是上帝在負責去完成，但是他們的無知，不以上帝爲他們的主，一路上都爲自己製造難處。求主幫助我們，尊上帝爲大，以上帝爲樂。不要只顧滿足目前、安於現狀，而對上帝國度的事沒有雄心大志；上帝所賜給我們的實在遠為豐富，祂能夠使我們有穩定成熟的性格，對人有敏銳的反應，以致更瞭解和關懷別人的基督徒──上帝恩惠的一個出口。
