Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the women of the land;
34:2
and when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her, he seized her and lay with her and humbled her.
34:3
And his soul was drawn to Dinah the daughter of Jacob; he loved the maiden and spoke tenderly to her.
34:4
So Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, "Get me this maiden for my wife."
34:5
Now Jacob heard that he had defiled his daughter Dinah; but his sons were with his cattle in the field, so Jacob held his peace until they came.
34:6
And Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to speak with him.
34:7
The sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard of it; and the men were indignant and very angry, because he had wrought folly in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter, for such a thing ought not to be done.
34:8
But Hamor spoke with them, saying, "The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter; I pray you, give her to him in marriage.
34:9
Make marriages with us; give your daughters to us, and take our daughters for yourselves.
34:10
You shall dwell with us; and the land shall be open to you; dwell and trade in it, and get property in it."
34:11
Shechem also said to her father and to her brothers, "Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you say to me I will give.
34:12
Ask of me ever so much as marriage present and gift, and I will give according as you say to me; only give me the maiden to be my wife."
34:13
The sons of Jacob answered Shechem and his father Hamor deceitfully, because he had defiled their sister Dinah.
34:14
They said to them, "We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
34:15
Only on this condition will we consent to you: that you will become as we are and every male of you be circumcised.
34:16
Then we will give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to ourselves, and we will dwell with you and become one people.
34:17
But if you will not listen to us and be circumcised, then we will take our daughter, and we will be gone."
34:18
Their words pleased Hamor and Hamor's son Shechem.
34:19
And the young man did not delay to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob's daughter. Now he was the most honored of all his family.
34:20
So Hamor and his son Shechem came to the gate of their city and spoke to the men of their city, saying,
34:21
"These men are friendly with us; let them dwell in the land and trade in it, for behold, the land is large enough for them; let us take their daughters in marriage, and let us give them our daughters.
34:22
Only on this condition will the men agree to dwell with us, to become one people: that every male among us be circumcised as they are circumcised.
34:23
Will not their cattle, their property and all their beasts be ours? Only let us agree with them, and they will dwell with us."
34:24
And all who went out of the gate of his city hearkened to Hamor and his son Shechem; and every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.
34:25
On the third day, when they were sore, two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, took their swords and came upon the city unawares, and killed all the males.
34:26
They slew Hamor and his son Shechem with the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and went away.
34:27
And the sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and plundered the city, because their sister had been defiled;
34:28
奪了他們的羊群、牛群,和驢,並城裡田間所有的;
they took their flocks and their herds, their asses, and whatever was in the city and in the field;
34:29
all their wealth, all their little ones and their wives, all that was in the houses, they captured and made their prey.
34:30
Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You have brought trouble on me by making me odious to the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites and the Per'izzites; my numbers are few, and if they gather themselves against me and attack me, I shall be destroyed, both I and my household."
34:31
But they said, "Should he treat our sister as a harlot?"

I come to my garden, my sister, my bride, I gather my myrrh with my spice, I eat my honeycomb with my honey, I drink my wine with my milk. Eat, O friends, and drink: drink deeply, O lovers!
5:2
I slept, but my heart was awake. Hark! my beloved is knocking. "Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my perfect one; for my head is wet with dew, my locks with the drops of the night."
5:3
I had put off my garment, how could I put it on? I had bathed my feet, how could I soil them?
5:4
My beloved put his hand to the latch, and my heart was thrilled within me.
5:5
I arose to open to my beloved, and my hands dripped with myrrh, my fingers with liquid myrrh, upon the handles of the bolt.
5:6
I opened to my beloved, but my beloved had turned and gone. My soul failed me when he spoke. I sought him, but found him not; I called him, but he gave no answer.
5:7
The watchmen found me, as they went about in the city; they beat me, they wounded me, they took away my mantle, those watchmen of the walls.
5:8
I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem , if you find my beloved, that you tell him I am sick with love.
5:9
What is your beloved more than another beloved, O fairest among women? What is your beloved more than another beloved, that you thus adjure us?
5:10
My beloved is all radiant and ruddy, distinguished among ten thousand.
5:11
His head is the finest gold; his locks are wavy, black as a raven.
5:12
His eyes are like doves beside springs of water, bathed in milk, fitly set.
5:13
His cheeks are like beds of spices, yielding fragrance. His lips are lilies, distilling liquid myrrh.
5:14
His arms are rounded gold, set with jewels. His body is ivory work, encrusted with sapphires.
5:15
His legs are alabaster columns, set upon bases of gold. His appearance is like Lebanon , choice as the cedars.
5:16
His speech is most sweet, and he is altogether desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem .

Whither has your beloved gone, O fairest among women? Whither has your beloved turned, that we may seek him with you?
6:2
My beloved has gone down to his garden, to the beds of spices, to pasture his flock in the gardens, and to gather lilies.
6:3
I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine; he pastures his flock among the lilies.
6:4
You are beautiful as Tirzah, my love, comely as Jerusalem , terrible as an army with banners.
6:5
Turn away your eyes from me, for they disturb me -- Your hair is like a flock of goats, moving down the slopes of Gilead .
6:6
Your teeth are like a flock of ewes, that have come up from the washing, all of them bear twins, not one among them is bereaved.
6:7
Your cheeks are like halves of a pomegranate behind your veil.
6:8
There are sixty queens and eighty concubines, and maidens without number.
6:9
My dove, my perfect one, is only one, the darling of her mother, flawless to her that bore her. The maidens saw her and called her happy; the queens and concubines also, and they praised her.
6:10
"Who is this that looks forth like the dawn, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army with banners?"
6:11
I went down to the nut orchard, to look at the blossoms of the valley, to see whether the vines had budded, whether the pomegranates were in bloom.
6:12
Before I was aware, my fancy set me in a chariot beside my prince.
6:13
Return, return, O Shu'lammite, return, return, that we may look upon you. Why should you look upon the Shu'lammite, as upon a dance before two armies?
