Now Abraham was old, well advanced in years; and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things. And Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his house, who had charge of all that he had, "Put your hand under my thigh, 24:3 我要叫你指著耶和華─天地的主起誓,不要為我兒子娶這迦南地中的女子為妻。 and I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell, 24:4 你要往我本地本族去,為我的兒子以撒娶一個妻子。」 but will go to my country and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son Isaac." 24:5 僕人對他說:「倘若女子不肯跟我到這地方來,我必須將你的兒子帶回你原出之地嗎?」 The servant said to him, "Perhaps the woman may not be willing to follow me to this land; must I then take your son back to the land from which you came?" 24:6 亞伯拉罕對他說:「你要謹慎,不要帶我的兒子回那裡去。 Abraham said to him, "See to it that you do not take my son back there. The LORD, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my birth, and who spoke to me and swore to me, `To your descendants I will give this land,' he will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there. But if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you will be free from this oath of mine; only you must not take my son back there." 24:9 僕人就把手放在他主人亞伯拉罕的大腿底下,為這事向他起誓。 So the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter. Then the servant took ten of his master's camels and departed, taking all sorts of choice gifts from his master; and he arose, and went to Mesopota'mia, to the city of Nahor . 24:11 天將晚,眾女子出來打水的時候,他便叫駱駝跪在城外的水井那裡。 And he made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at the time of evening, the time when women go out to draw water. And he said, "O LORD, God of my master Abraham, grant me success today, I pray thee, and show steadfast love to my master Abraham. Behold, I am standing by the spring of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. Let the maiden to whom I shall say, `Pray let down your jar that I may drink,' and who shall say, `Drink, and I will water your camels' -- let her be the one whom thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac. By this I shall know that thou hast shown steadfast love to my master." 24:15 話還沒有說完,不料,利百加肩頭上扛著水瓶出來。 Before he had done speaking, behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethu'el the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, came out with her water jar upon her shoulder. The maiden was very fair to look upon, a virgin, whom no man had known. She went down to the spring, and filled her jar, and came up. 24:17 僕人跑上前去迎著她,說:「求你將瓶裡的水給我一點喝。」 Then the servant ran to meet her, and said, "Pray give me a little water to drink from your jar." 24:18 女子說:「我主請喝!」 She said, "Drink, my lord"; and she quickly let down her jar upon her hand, and gave him a drink. When she had finished giving him a drink, she said, "I will draw for your camels also, until they have done drinking." 24:20 她就急忙把瓶裡的水倒在槽裡,又跑到井旁打水,就為所有的駱駝打上水來。 So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough and ran again to the well to draw, and she drew for all his camels. The man gazed at her in silence to learn whether the LORD had prospered his journey or not. When the camels had done drinking, the man took a gold ring weighing a half shekel, and two bracelets for her arms weighing ten gold shekels, 24:23 說:「請告訴我,你是誰的女兒?你父親家裡有我們住宿的地方沒有?」 and said, "Tell me whose daughter you are. Is there room in your father's house for us to lodge in?" 24:24 女子說:「我是密迦與拿鶴之子彼土利的女兒;」 She said to him, "I am the daughter of Bethu'el the son of Milcah, whom she bore to Nahor." 24:25 又說:「我們家裡足有糧草,也有住宿的地方。」 She added, "We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in." 24:26 那人就低頭向耶和華下拜, The man bowed his head and worshiped the LORD, 24:27 說:「耶和華─我主人亞伯拉罕的 神是應當稱頌的,因他不斷地以慈愛誠實待我主人。 and said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his steadfast love and his faithfulness toward my master. As for me, the LORD has led me in the way to the house of my master's kinsmen." 24:28 女子跑回去,照著這些話告訴她母親和她家裡的人。 Then the maiden ran and told her mother's household about these things. Rebekah had a brother whose name was Laban; and Laban ran out to the man, to the spring. When he saw the ring, and the bracelets on his sister's arms, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, "Thus the man spoke to me," he went to the man; and behold, he was standing by the camels at the spring. He said, "Come in, O blessed of the LORD; why do you stand outside? For I have prepared the house and a place for the camels." 24:32 那人就進了拉班的家。 So the man came into the house; and Laban ungirded the camels, and gave him straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him. Then food was set before him to eat; but he said, "I will not eat until I have told my errand." He said, "Speak on." 24:34 他說:「我是亞伯拉罕的僕人。 So he said, "I am Abraham's servant. The LORD has greatly blessed my master, and he has become great; he has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, menservants and maidservants, camels and asses. And Sarah my master's wife bore a son to my master when she was old; and to him he has given all that he has. My master made me swear, saying, `You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell; 24:38 你要往我父家、我本族那裡去,為我的兒子娶一個妻子。』 but you shall go to my father's house and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son.' 24:39 我對我主人說:『恐怕女子不肯跟我來。』 I said to my master, `Perhaps the woman will not follow me.' 24:40 他就說:『我所事奉的耶和華必要差遣他的使者與你同去,叫你的道路通達,你就得以在我父家、我本族那裡,給我的兒子娶一個妻子。 But he said to me, `The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with you and prosper your way; and you shall take a wife for my son from my kindred and from my father's house; 24:41 只要你到了我本族那裡,我使你起的誓就與你無干。 then you will be free from my oath, when you come to my kindred; and if they will not give her to you, you will be free from my oath.' 24:42 「我今日到了井旁,便說:『耶和華─我主人亞伯拉罕的 神啊,願你叫我所行的道路通達。 "I came today to the spring, and said, `O LORD, the God of my master Abraham, if now thou wilt prosper the way which I go, 24:43 我如今站在井旁,對那一個出來打水的女子說:請你把你瓶裡的水給我一點喝; behold, I am standing by the spring of water; let the young woman who comes out to draw, to whom I shall say, "Pray give me a little water from your jar to drink," 24:44 她若說:你只管喝,我也為你的駱駝打水;願那女子就作耶和華給我主人兒子所預定的妻。』 and who will say to me, "Drink, and I will draw for your camels also," let her be the woman whom the LORD has appointed for my master's son.' 24:45 我心裡的話還沒有說完,利百加就出來,肩頭上扛著水瓶,下到井旁打水。 "Before I had done speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came out with her water jar on her shoulder; and she went down to the spring, and drew. I said to her, `Pray let me drink.' 24:46 她就急忙從肩頭上拿下瓶來,說:『請喝! She quickly let down her jar from her shoulder, and said, `Drink, and I will give your camels drink also.' So I drank, and she gave the camels drink also. Then I asked her, `Whose daughter are you?' She said, The daughter of Bethu'el, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bore to him.' So I put the ring on her nose, and the bracelets on her arms. Then I bowed my head and worshiped the LORD, and blessed the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me by the right way to take the daughter of my master's kinsman for his son. Now then, if you will deal loyally and truly with my master, tell me; and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand or to the left." 24:50 拉班和彼土利回答說:「這事乃出於耶和華,我們不能向你說好說歹。 Then Laban and Bethu'el answered, "The thing comes from the LORD; we cannot speak to you bad or good. Behold, Rebekah is before you, take her and go, and let her be the wife of your master's son, as the LORD has spoken." 24:52 亞伯拉罕的僕人聽見他們這話,就向耶和華俯伏在地。 When Abraham's servant heard their words, he bowed himself to the earth before the LORD. 24:53 當下僕人拿出金器、銀器,和衣服送給利百加,又將寶物送給她哥哥和她母親。 And the servant brought forth jewelry of silver and of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave to her brother and to her mother costly ornaments. And he and the men who were with him ate and drank, and they spent the night there. When they arose in the morning, he said, "Send me back to my master." 24:55 利百加的哥哥和她母親說:「讓女子同我們再住幾天,至少十天,然後她可以去。」 Her brother and her mother said, "Let the maiden remain with us a while, at least ten days; after that she may go." 24:56 僕人說:「耶和華既賜給我通達的道路,你們不要耽誤我,請打發我走,回我主人那裡去吧。」 But he said to them, "Do not delay me, since the LORD has prospered my way; let me go that I may go to my master." 24:57 他們說:「我們把女子叫來問問她,」 They said, "We will call the maiden, and ask her." 24:58 就叫了利百加來,問她說:「你和這人同去嗎?」 And they called Rebekah, and said to her, "Will you go with this man?" She said, "I will go." 24:59 於是他們打發妹子利百加和她的乳母,同亞伯拉罕的僕人,並跟從僕人的,都走了。 So they sent away Rebekah their sister and her nurse, and Abraham's servant and his men. And they blessed Rebekah, and said to her, "Our sister, be the mother of thousands of ten thousands; and may your descendants possess the gate of those who hate them!" 24:61 利百加和她的使女們起來,騎上駱駝,跟著那僕人,僕人就帶著利百加走了。 Then Rebekah and her maids arose, and rode upon the camels and followed the man; thus the servant took Rebekah, and went his way. Now Isaac had come from Beer-la'hai-roi, and was dwelling in the Negeb. And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening; and he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, there were camels coming. And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she alighted from the camel, 24:65 問那僕人說:「這田間走來迎接我們的是誰?」 and said to the servant, "Who is the man yonder, walking in the field to meet us?" The servant said, "It is my master." So she took her veil and covered herself. And the servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. Then Isaac brought her into the tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.
The Song of Songs, which is Solomon's. 1:2 願他用口與我親嘴;因你的愛情比酒更美。 O that you would kiss me with the kisses of your mouth! For your love is better than wine, 1:3 你的膏油馨香;你的名如同倒出來的香膏,所以眾童女都愛你。 your anointing oils are fragrant, your name is oil poured out; therefore the maidens love you. Draw me after you, let us make haste. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will exult and rejoice in you; we will extol your love more than wine; rightly do they love you. I am very dark, but comely, O daughters of Jerusalem , like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon. Do not gaze at me because I am swarthy, because the sun has scorched me. My mother's sons were angry with me, they made me keeper of the vineyards; but, my own vineyard I have not kept! Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you pasture your flock, where you make it lie down at noon; for why should I be like one who wanders beside the flocks of your companions? If you do not know, O fairest among women, follow in the tracks of the flock, and pasture your kids beside the shepherds' tents. I compare you, my love, to a mare of Pharaoh's chariots. Your cheeks are comely with ornaments, your neck with strings of jewels. We will make you ornaments of gold, studded with silver. While the king was on his couch, my nard gave forth its fragrance. My beloved is to me a bag of myrrh, that lies between my breasts. My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blossoms in the vineyards of Enge'di. 1:15 我的佳偶,你甚美麗! Behold, you are beautiful, my love; behold, you are beautiful; your eyes are doves. Behold, you are beautiful, my beloved, truly lovely. the beams of our house are cedar, our rafters are pine.
I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. As a lily among brambles, so is my love among maidens. As an apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among young men. With great delight I sat in his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. Sustain me with raisins, refresh me with apples; for I am sick with love. O that his left hand were under my head, and that his right hand embraced me! 2:7 耶路撒冷的眾女子啊,我指著羚羊或田野的母鹿囑咐你們:不要驚動、不要叫醒我所親愛的,等他自己情願(不要叫醒…… I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem , by the gazelles or the hinds of the field, that you stir not up nor awaken love until it please. The voice of my beloved! Behold, he comes, leaping upon the mountains, bounding over the hills. My beloved is like a gazelle, or a young stag. Behold, there he stands behind our wall, gazing in at the windows, looking through the lattice. My beloved speaks and says to me: "Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away; 2:11 因為冬天已往,雨水止住過去了。 for lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away. O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the covert of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet, and your face is comely. Catch us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vineyards, for our vineyards are in blossom." 2:16 良人屬我,我也屬他;他在百合花中牧放群羊。 My beloved is mine and I am his, he pastures his flock among the lilies. Until the day breathes and the shadows flee, turn, my beloved, be like a gazelle, or a young stag upon rugged mountains.
