Some time after this, the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker offended their lord the king of Egypt. And Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief butler and the chief baker, 40:3 把他們下在護衛長府內的監裡,就是約瑟被囚的地方。 and he put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison where Joseph was confined. The captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he waited on them; and they continued for some time in custody. And one night they both dreamed -- the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt , who were confined in the prison -- each his own dream, and each dream with its own meaning. When Joseph came to them in the morning and saw them, they were troubled. So he asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in custody in his master's house, "Why are your faces downcast today?" 40:8 他們對他說:「我們各人做了一夢,沒有人能解。」 They said to him, "We have had dreams, and there is no one to interpret them." And Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, I pray you." 40:9 酒政便將他的夢告訴約瑟說:「我夢見在我面前有一棵葡萄樹, So the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, "In my dream there was a vine before me, 40:10 樹上有三根枝子,好像發了芽,開了花,上頭的葡萄都成熟了。 and on the vine there were three branches; as soon as it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and the clusters ripened into grapes. Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand." 40:12 約瑟對他說:「他所做的夢是這樣解:三根枝子就是三天; Then Joseph said to him, "This is its interpretation: the three branches are three days; 40:13 三天之內,法老必提你出監,叫你官復原職,你仍要遞杯在法老的手中,和先前作他的酒政一樣。 within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office; and you shall place Pharaoh's cup in his hand as formerly, when you were his butler. But remember me, when it is well with you, and do me the kindness, I pray you, to make mention of me to Pharaoh, and so get me out of this house. For I was indeed stolen out of the land of the Hebrews; and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon." 40:16 膳長見夢解得好,就對約瑟說:「我在夢中見我頭上頂著三筐白餅; When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was favorable, he said to Joseph, "I also had a dream: there were three cake baskets on my head, 40:17 極上的筐子裡有為法老烤的各樣食物,有飛鳥來吃我頭上筐子裡的食物。」 and in the uppermost basket there were all sorts of baked food for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating it out of the basket on my head." 40:18 約瑟說:「你的夢是這樣解:三個筐子就是三天; And Joseph answered, "This is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days; 40:19 三天之內,法老必斬斷你的頭,把你掛在木頭上,必有飛鳥來吃你身上的肉。」 within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head -- from you! -- and hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat the flesh from you." 40:20 到了第三天,是法老的生日,他為眾臣僕設擺筵席,把酒政和膳長提出監來, On the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, he made a feast for all his servants, and lifted up the head of the chief butler and the head of the chief baker among his servants. He restored the chief butler to his butlership, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand; 40:22 但把膳長掛起來,正如約瑟向他們所解的話。 but he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them. Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.
How graceful are your feet in sandals, O queenly maiden! Your rounded thighs are like jewels, the work of a master hand. Your navel is a rounded bowl that never lacks mixed wine. Your belly is a heap of wheat, encircled with lilies. Your two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle. Your neck is like an ivory tower. Your eyes are pools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bath-rab'bim. Your nose is like a tower of Lebanon , overlooking Damascus . 7:5 你的頭在你身上好像迦密山;你頭上的髮是紫黑色;王的心因這下垂的髮綹繫住了。 Your head crowns you like Carmel , and your flowing locks are like purple; a king is held captive in the tresses. How fair and pleasant you are, O loved one, delectable maiden! You are stately as a palm tree, and your breasts are like its clusters. I say I will climb the palm tree and lay hold of its branches. Oh, may your breasts be like clusters of the vine, and the scent of your breath like apples, 7:9 你的口如上好的酒。 and your kisses like the best wine that goes down smoothly, gliding over lips and teeth. I am my beloved's, and his desire is for me. 7:11 我的良人,來吧! Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the fields, and lodge in the villages; 7:12 我們早晨起來往葡萄園去,看看葡萄發芽開花沒有,石榴放蕊沒有;我在那裡要將我的愛情給你。 let us go out early to the vineyards, and see whether the vines have budded, whether the grape blossoms have opened and the pomegranates are in bloom. There I will give you my love. The mandrakes give forth fragrance, and over our doors are all choice fruits, new as well as old, which I have laid up for you, O my beloved.
O that you were like a brother to me, that nursed at my mother's breast! If I met you outside, I would kiss you, and none would despise me. 8:2 我必引導你,領你進我母親的家;我可以領受教訓,也就使你喝石榴汁釀的香酒。 I would lead you and bring you into the house of my mother, and into the chamber of her that conceived me. I would give you spiced wine to drink, the juice of my pomegranates. O that his left hand were under my head, and that his right hand embraced me! 8:4 耶路撒冷的眾女子啊,我囑咐你們:不要驚動、不要叫醒我所親愛的,等他自己情願(不要叫醒…… I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem , that you stir not up nor awaken love until it please. Who is that coming up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? Under the apple tree I awakened you. There your mother was in travail with you, there she who bore you was in travail. Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is strong as death, jealousy is cruel as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it. If a man offered for love all the wealth of his house, it would be utterly scorned. We have a little sister, and she has no breasts. What shall we do for our sister, on the day when she is spoken for? If she is a wall, we will build upon her a battlement of silver; but if she is a door, we will enclose her with boards of cedar. I was a wall, and my breasts were like towers; then I was in his eyes as one who brings peace. Solomon had a vineyard at Ba'al-ha'mon; he let out the vineyard to keepers; each one was to bring for its fruit a thousand pieces of silver. My vineyard, my very own, is for myself; you, O Solomon, may have the thousand, and the keepers of the fruit two hundred. O you who dwell in the gardens, my companions are listening for your voice; let me hear it. 8:14 我的良人哪,求你快來! Make haste, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag upon the mountains of spices.
