King David's Envoys Insulted By Ammonites

經文: 歷代志上 19:12-13 約押對亞比篩說：「亞蘭人若強過我，你就來幫助我；亞捫人若強過你，我就去幫助你。我們都當剛強，為本國的民和神的城邑作大丈夫，願耶和華憑他的意旨而行。」
默想: 當約押發現亞捫人雇請亞蘭人派出大軍，兩軍聯合來與以色列軍隊爭戰時，約押將以色列軍隊分成兩隊，自己帶領其中一隊，派亞比篩帶領另外一隊。約押帶領的這一隊與亞蘭軍隊爭戰，亞比篩所帶領的那一隊則與亞捫人軍隊爭戰。約押告訴亞比篩，如果戰爭的發展形成以色列軍隊居於弱勢時，另外一隊就要過來支援。約押還勉勵亞比篩，要靠神剛強，奮勇爭戰。結果是在耶和華的保守與祝福之下，以色列兩隊軍隊都大勝亞蘭軍隊與亞捫軍隊。求主幫助我們，在屬靈的戰場上，我們全體兄姐也會分工合作，相互支援，靠主剛強，好讓我們都能夠勝過魔鬼的攻擊，做得勝的基督徒。
題目: 亞捫的哈嫩王，沒有細察大衛王是為了向其父親拿轄王表示感恩而來吊喪，卻聽信領袖建言作出錯誤的判斷…。試問，你若是哈嫩王，你會作出何種判斷？你若是領袖，你會對哈嫩王作何種建言？
19:1 此後，亞捫人的王拿轄死了，他兒子接續他作王。
Now after this Nahash the king of the Ammonites died, and his son reigned in his stead.
19:2 大衛說：「我要照哈嫩的父親拿轄厚待我的恩典厚待哈嫩。」於是大衛差遣使者為他喪父安慰他。大衛的臣僕到了亞捫人的境內見哈嫩，要安慰他，
And David said, "I will deal loyally with Hanun the son of Nahash, for his father dealt loyally with me." So David sent messengers to console him concerning his father. And David's servants came to Hanun in the land of the Ammonites, to console him.
19:3 但亞捫人的首領對哈嫩說：「大衛差人來安慰你，你想他是尊敬你父親嗎？他的臣僕來見你不是為詳察窺探、傾覆這地嗎？」
But the princes of the Ammonites said to Hanun, "Do you think, because David has sent comforters to you, that he is honoring your father? Have not his servants come to you to search and to overthrow and to spy out the land?"
19:4 哈嫩便將大衛臣僕的鬍鬚剃去一半，又割斷他們下半截的衣服，使他們露出下體，打發他們回去。
So Hanun took David's servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the middle, at their hips, and sent them away;
19:5 有人將臣僕所遇的事告訴大衛，他就差人去迎接他們，因為他們甚覺羞恥；告訴他們說：「可以住在耶利哥，等到鬍鬚長起再回來。」
and they departed. When David was told concerning the men, he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, "Remain at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return."
19:6 亞捫人知道大衛憎惡他們，哈嫩和亞捫人就打發人拿一千他連得銀子，從米所波大米、亞蘭、瑪迦、瑣巴雇戰車和馬兵，
When the Ammonites saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the Ammonites sent a thousand talents of silver to hire chariots and horsemen from Mesopota'mia, from Aram-ma'acah, and from Zobah.
19:7 於是雇了三萬二千輛戰車和瑪迦王並他的軍兵；他們來安營在米底巴前。亞捫人也從他們的城裡出來，聚集交戰。
They hired thirty-two thousand chariots and the king of Ma'acah with his army, who came and encamped before Med'eba. And the Ammonites were mustered from their cities and came to battle.
19:8 大衛聽見了，就差派約押統帶勇猛的全軍出去。
When David heard of it, he sent Jo'ab and all the army of the mighty men.
19:9 亞捫人出來在城門前擺陣，所來的諸王另在郊野擺陣。
And the Ammonites came out and drew up in battle array at the entrance of the city, and the kings who had come were by themselves in the open country.
19:10 約押看見敵人在他前後擺陣，就從以色列軍中挑選精兵，使他們對著亞蘭人擺陣；
When Jo'ab saw that the battle was set against him both in front and in the rear, he chose some of the picked men of Israel, and arrayed them against the Syrians;
19:11 其餘的兵交與他兄弟亞比篩，對著亞捫人擺陣。
the rest of his men he put in the charge of Abi'shai his brother, and they were arrayed against the Ammonites.
19:12 約押對亞比篩說：「亞蘭人若強過我，你就來幫助我；亞捫人若強過你，我就去幫助你。
And he said, "If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will help you.
19:13 我們都當剛強，為本國的民和 神的城邑作大丈夫，願耶和華憑他的意旨而行。
Be of good courage, and let us play the man for our people, and for the cities of our God; and may the LORD do what seems good to him."
19:14 於是約押和跟隨他的人前進攻打亞蘭人；亞蘭人在約押面前逃跑。
So Jo'ab and the people who were with him drew near before the Syrians for battle; and they fled before him.
19:15 亞捫人見亞蘭人逃跑，他們也在約押的兄弟亞比篩面前逃跑進城。約押就回耶路撒冷去了。
And when the Ammonites saw that the Syrians fled, they likewise fled before Abi'shai, Jo'ab's brother, and entered the city. Then Jo'ab came to Jerusalem.
19:16 亞蘭人見自己被以色列人打敗，就打發使者將大河那邊的亞蘭人調來，哈大利謝的將軍朔法率領他們。
But when the Syrians saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they sent messengers and brought out the Syrians who were beyond the Euphra'tes, with Shophach the commander of the army of Hadade'zer at their head.
19:17 有人告訴大衛，他就聚集以色列眾人過約旦河，來到亞蘭人那裡，迎著他們擺陣。大衛既擺陣攻擊亞蘭人，亞蘭人就與他打仗。
And when it was told David, he gathered all Israel together, and crossed the Jordan, and came to them, and drew up his forces against them. And when David set the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.
19:18 亞蘭人在以色列人面前逃跑。大衛殺了亞蘭七千輛戰車的人，四萬步兵，又殺了亞蘭的將軍朔法。
And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians the men of seven thousand chariots, and forty thousand foot soldiers, and killed also Shophach the commander of their army.
19:19 屬哈大利謝的諸王見自己被以色列人打敗，就與大衛和好，歸服他。於是亞蘭人不敢再幫助亞捫人了。
And when the servants of Hadade'zer saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with David, and became subject to him. So the Syrians were not willing to help the Ammonites any more.
Now after this Nahash the king of the Ammonites died, and his son reigned in his stead.
