W5 2013-10-11 傳道書8
8:16 我專心求智慧，要看世上所做的事。（有晝夜不睡覺不合眼的。）
8:17 我就看明 神一切的作為，知道人查不出日光之下所做的事；任憑他費多少力尋查，都查不出來，就是智慧人雖想知道，也是查不出來。
默想: 傳道者想要以智慧來查明世上所發生的諸事，並想要明白上帝的一切作者。他甚至日夜尋求，終夜不合眼。結果他能夠得到的結論就是：任憑世人花多少時間、智慧、心力去尋求上帝的作為，終究無法明白上帝所做奧秘。
人對於未知之事有好奇的心，特別對於上帝攝理的善惡因果的律例常想要究極其原理，但是其結果是「查不出」，因為奧秘的事屬乎上帝。如同箴言所說：「將事隱祕乃上帝的榮耀」(二十五2)。
對基督徒而言，上帝所刻意隱藏，不要人知道的事，人究極我們的智慧，也無法知道，人可以做的，就是承認這是上帝的主權，是祂的所掌管的。但是上帝並不是一天到晚搞神秘就算了，上帝其實有主動地將祂的心意告訴我們，上帝所要我們所該知道的一切事，都在祂的話語中了，就是在聖經裡。我們需要做的，就是透過聖經明白上帝的啟示。至於上帝所隱秘的事，爭論無益，人在世上，也沒有答案。
題目: 根據傳道書第八章，作者為何查不清楚神的作為呢？
8:1 誰如智慧人呢？誰知道事情的解釋呢？人的智慧使他的臉發光，並使他臉上的暴氣改變。
Who is as the wise man ? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed. the boldness: Heb. the strength
8:2 我勸你遵守王的命令；既指 神起誓，理當如此。
I counsel thee to keep the king's commandment, and that in regard of the oath of God.
8:3 不要急躁離開王的面前，不要固執行惡，因為他凡事都隨自己的心意而行。
Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.
8:4 王的話本有權力，誰敢問他說「你做甚麼」呢？
Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?
8:5 凡遵守命令的，必不經歷禍患；智慧人的心能辨明時候和定理（原文是審判；下節同）。
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment. shall...: Heb. shall know
8:6 各樣事務成就都有時候和定理，因為人的苦難重壓在他身上。
Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.
8:7 他不知道將來的事，因為將來如何，誰能告訴他呢？
For he knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be? when...: or, how it shall be?
8:8 無人有權力掌管生命，將生命留住；也無人有權力掌管死期；這場爭戰，無人能免；邪惡也不能救那好行邪惡的人。
There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it. discharge: or, casting off weapons
8:9 這一切我都見過，也專心查考日光之下所做的一切事。有時這人管轄那人，令人受害。
All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt.
8:10 我見惡人埋葬，歸入墳墓；又見行正直事的離開聖地，在城中被人忘記。這也是虛空。
And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity.
8:11 因為斷定罪名不立刻施刑，所以世人滿心作惡。
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
8:12 罪人雖然作惡百次，倒享長久的年日；然而我準知道，敬畏 神的，就是在他面前敬畏的人，終久必得福樂。
Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:
8:13 惡人卻不得福樂，也不得長久的年日；這年日好像影兒，因他不敬畏 神。
But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.
8:14 世上有一件虛空的事，就是義人所遭遇的，反照惡人所行的；又有惡人所遭遇的，反照義人所行的。我說，這也是虛空。
There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men , unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men , to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.
8:15 我就稱讚快樂，原來人在日光之下，莫強如吃喝快樂；因為他在日光之下， 神賜他一生的年日，要從勞碌中，時常享受所得的。
Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.
8:16 我專心求智慧，要看世上所做的事。（有晝夜不睡覺不合眼的。）
When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:)
8:17 我就看明 神一切的作為，知道人查不出日光之下所做的事；任憑他費多少力尋查，都查不出來，就是智慧人雖想知道，也是查不出來。
Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it ; yea further; though a wise man think to know it , yet shall he not be able to find it .
