      17:1 設筵滿屋,大家相爭,不如有塊乾餅,大家相安。
      17:2 僕人辦事聰明,必管轄貽羞之子,又在眾子中同分產業。
      17:3 鼎為煉銀,爐為煉金;惟有耶和華熬煉人心。
      17:4 行惡的,留心聽奸詐之言;說謊的,側耳聽邪惡之語。
      17:5 戲笑窮人的,是辱沒造他的主;幸災樂禍的,必不免受罰。
      17:6 子孫為老人的冠冕;父親是兒女的榮耀。
      17:7 愚頑人說美言本不相宜,何況君王說謊話呢?
      17:8 賄賂在餽送的人眼中看為寶玉,隨處運動都得順利。
      17:9 遮掩人過的,尋求人愛;屢次挑錯的,離間密友。
      17:10 一句責備話深入聰明人的心,強如責打愚昧人一百下。
      
  默想: 人的心,是很難測試的。對於我們而言,我們只能「日久見人心」。甚至,有時候,我們始終無法知道一個人心裡真正的動機是什麼。
      什麼最能看出我們這個人呢?我想是苦難與誘惑。一個人沒有經歷苦難與誘惑,我們很難知道他是否會跌倒。
  事實上,上帝常常透過苦難來使我們被熬煉。詩人說「我受苦是與我有益,為要使我學習你的律例。」(詩一一九71)在受苦中,我們能看到一個人是用什麼態度來面對苦難。
      另外,試探、引誘也是讓我們看出自己是否是真正的倚靠上帝。當那穌要出來傳道的時候,他也曾受試探,但是我們的主沒有犯罪,這正是給我留下榜樣。叫我們凡事也可以學習他的樣式。
      
  題目: 根據箴言17:3,耶和華可能使用那些方法來熬煉我們的心志呢?
17:1 設筵滿屋,大家相爭,不如有塊乾餅,大家相安。
      Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith,  than an house full of sacrifices with strife. sacrifices: or, good cheer
  17:2 僕人辦事聰明,必管轄貽羞之子,又在眾子中同分產業。
  A wise servant shall have rule over a son that  causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.
  17:3 鼎為煉銀,爐為煉金;惟有耶和華熬煉人心。
  The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for  gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
  17:4 行惡的,留心聽奸詐之言;說謊的,側耳聽邪惡之語。
  A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a  liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
  17:5 戲笑窮人的,是辱沒造他的主;幸災樂禍的,必不免受罰。
  Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and  he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished. unpunished: Heb. held  innocent
  17:6 子孫為老人的冠冕;父親是兒女的榮耀。
  Children's children are the crown of old men; and  the glory of children are their fathers.
  17:7 愚頑人說美言本不相宜,何況君王說謊話呢?
  Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do  lying lips a prince. Excellent...: Heb. A lip of excellency lying...: Heb. a  lip of lying
  17:8 賄賂在餽送的人眼中看為寶玉,隨處運動都得順利。
  A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him  that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth. a precious...: Heb. a  stone of grace
  17:9 遮掩人過的,尋求人愛;屢次挑錯的,離間密友。
  He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but  he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. seeketh: or, procureth
  17:10 一句責備話深入聰明人的心,強如責打愚昧人一百下。
  A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an  hundred stripes into a fool. entereth...: or, aweth more a wise man, than to  strike a fool an hundred times
  17:11 惡人只尋背叛,所以必有嚴厲的使者奉差攻擊他。
  An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a  cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
  17:12 寧可遇見丟崽子的母熊,不可遇見正行愚妄的愚昧人。
  Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather  than a fool in his folly.
  17:13 以惡報善的,禍患必不離他的家。
  Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not  depart from his house.
  17:14 紛爭的起頭如水放開,所以,在爭鬧之先必當止息爭競。
  The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out  water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
  17:15 定惡人為義的,定義人為惡的,這都為耶和華所憎惡。
  He that justifieth the wicked, and he that  condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
  17:16 愚昧人既無聰明,為何手拿價銀買智慧呢?
  Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool  to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it ?
  17:17 朋友乃時常親愛,弟兄為患難而生。
  A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is  born for adversity.
  17:18 在鄰舍面前擊掌作保乃是無知的人。
  A man void of understanding striketh hands, and  becometh surety in the presence of his friend. understanding: Heb. heart
  17:19 喜愛爭競的,是喜愛過犯;高立家門的,乃自取敗壞。
  He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he  that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
  17:20 心存邪僻的,尋不著好處;舌弄是非的,陷在禍患中。
  He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and  he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief. He that hath a  froward...: Heb. The froward of heart
  17:21 生愚昧子的,必自愁苦;愚頑人的父毫無喜樂。
  He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow:  and the father of a fool hath no joy.
  17:22 喜樂的心乃是良藥;憂傷的靈使骨枯乾。
  A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a  broken spirit drieth the bones. like: or, to
  17:23 惡人暗中受賄賂,為要顛倒判斷。
  A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to  pervert the ways of judgment.
  17:24 明哲人眼前有智慧;愚昧人眼望地極。
  Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but  the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
  17:25 愚昧子使父親愁煩,使母親憂苦。
  A foolish son is a grief to his father, and  bitterness to her that bare him.
  17:26 刑罰義人為不善;責打君子為不義。
  Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike  princes for equity.
  17:27 寡少言語的,有知識;性情溫良的,有聰明。
  He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a  man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. an...: or, a cool
  17:28 愚昧人若靜默不言也可算為智慧;閉口不說也可算為聰明。
  Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted  wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
