經文: 歷代志下 21:4-6 約蘭興起坐他父的位，奮勇自強，就用刀殺了他的眾兄弟和以色列的幾個首領。約蘭登基的時候年三十二歲，在耶路撒冷作王八年。他行以色列諸王的道，與亞哈家一樣；因他娶了亞哈的女兒為妻，行耶和華眼中看為惡的事。
默想: 這段經文讓我們看到宮廷內殘酷的一面。約蘭是約沙法王的長子，因此，約沙法王在去世之前，就將國位傳給長子約蘭，另外將許多金銀財寶與堅固城邑賜給約蘭的六個弟弟。那裡知道，約沙法王一去世，長子約蘭登基做猶大國王後的第一件事，竟然是親手將自己的六個親弟弟以及一些以色列人領袖全部殺死。約蘭王用這種殘酷的方法來鞏固他的王位。他又娶了亞哈的女兒為妻，因此，他沒有效法他的父親約沙法所留下來的美好榜樣，專一尋求敬拜耶和華，而是受到妻子亞哈王的女兒的影響，去行耶和華眼中看為惡的事。求主幫助我，讓我與妻子能夠互相鼓勵，更加愛主與專一信靠主。
題目: 以利亞寫信給猶大王約蘭說:「你沒有效法你父親約沙法的好榜樣;反而仿效以色列諸王的壞榜樣。」(v12-13)試想:前人走過的道路……你會效法何種腳蹤？
21:1 約沙法與他列祖同睡，葬在大衛城他列祖的墳地裡。他兒子約蘭接續他作王。
Jehosh'aphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Jeho'ram his son reigned in his stead.
21:2 約蘭有幾個兄弟，就是約沙法的兒子亞撒利雅、耶歇、撒迦利雅、亞撒利雅、米迦勒、示法提雅。這都是猶大王約沙法的兒子。
He had brothers, the sons of Jehosh'aphat: Azari'ah, Jehi'el, Zechari'ah, Azari'ah, Michael, and Shephati'ah; all these were the sons of Jehosh'aphat king of Judah.
21:3 他們的父親將許多金銀、財寶，和猶大地的堅固城賜給他們；但將國賜給約蘭，因為他是長子。
Their father gave them great gifts, of silver, gold, and valuable possessions, together with fortified cities in Judah; but he gave the kingdom to Jeho'ram, because he was the first-born.
21:4 約蘭興起坐他父的位，奮勇自強，就用刀殺了他的眾兄弟和以色列的幾個首領。
When Jeho'ram had ascended the throne of his father and was established, he slew all his brothers with the sword, and also some of the princes of Israel.
21:5 約蘭登基的時候年三十二歲，在耶路撒冷作王八年。
Jeho'ram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
21:6 他行以色列諸王的道，與亞哈家一樣；因他娶了亞哈的女兒為妻，行耶和華眼中看為惡的事。
And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done; for the daughter of Ahab was his wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD.
21:7 耶和華卻因自己與大衛所立的約，不肯滅大衛的家，照他所應許的，永遠賜燈光與大衛和他的子孫。
Yet the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant which he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons for ever.
21:8 約蘭年間，以東人背叛猶大，脫離他的權下，自己立王。
In his days Edom revolted from the rule of Judah, and set up a king of their own.
21:9 約蘭就率領軍長和所有的戰車，夜間起來，攻擊圍困他的以東人和車兵長。
Then Jeho'ram passed over with his commanders and all his chariots, and he rose by night and smote the E'domites who had surrounded him and his chariot commanders.
21:10 這樣，以東人背叛猶大，脫離他的權下，直到今日。那時，立拿人也背叛了，因為約蘭離棄耶和華─他列祖的 神。
So Edom revolted from the rule of Judah to this day. At that time Libnah also revolted from his rule, because he had forsaken the LORD, the God of his fathers.
21:11 他又在猶大諸山建築邱壇，使耶路撒冷的居民行邪淫，誘惑猶大人。
Moreover he made high places in the hill country of Judah, and led the inhabitants of Jerusalem into unfaithfulness, and made Judah go astray.
21:12 先知以利亞達信與約蘭說：「耶和華─你祖大衛的 神如此說：『因為你不行你父約沙法和猶大王亞撒的道，
And a letter came to him from Eli'jah the prophet, saying, "Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father, `Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehosh'aphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
21:13 乃行以色列諸王的道，使猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民行邪淫，像亞哈家一樣，又殺了你父家比你好的諸兄弟。
but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem into unfaithfulness, as the house of Ahab led Israel into unfaithfulness, and also you have killed your brothers, of your father's house, who were better than yourself;
21:14 故此，耶和華降大災與你的百姓和你的妻子、兒女，並你一切所有的。
behold, the LORD will bring a great plague on your people, your children, your wives, and all your possessions,
21:15 你的腸子必患病，日加沉重，以致你的腸子墜落下來。』」
and you yourself will have a severe sickness with a disease of your bowels, until your bowels come out because of the disease, day by day.'"
21:16 以後，耶和華激動非利士人和靠近古實的阿拉伯人來攻擊約蘭。
And the LORD stirred up against Jeho'ram the anger of the Philistines and of the Arabs who are near the Ethiopians;
21:17 他們上來攻擊猶大，侵入境內，擄掠了王宮裡所有的財貨和他的妻子、兒女，除了他小兒子約哈斯【又名亞哈謝】之外，沒有留下一個兒子。
and they came up against Judah, and invaded it, and carried away all the possessions they found that belonged to the king's house, and also his sons and his wives, so that no son was left to him except Jeho'ahaz, his youngest son.
21:18 這些事以後，耶和華使約蘭的腸子患不能醫治的病。
And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
21:19 他患此病纏綿日久，過了二年，腸子墜落下來，病重而死。他的民沒有為他燒甚麼物件，像從前為他列祖所燒的一樣。
In course of time, at the end of two years, his bowels came out because of the disease, and he died in great agony. His people made no fire in his honor, like the fires made for his fathers.
21:20 約蘭登基的時候年三十二歲，在耶路撒冷作王八年。他去世無人思慕，眾人葬他在大衛城，只是不在列王的墳墓裡。
He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem; and he departed with no one's regret. They buried him in the city of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
