經文: 哥林多前書 8:13 所以，食物若叫我弟兄跌倒，我就永遠不吃肉，免得叫我弟兄跌倒了。
默想: 保羅談到祭拜過偶像的食物的議題時，談到兩個層次的考量。第一個層次的考量是有關神學知識的理性認知。第二個層次的考量是有關主內兄姐互相影響的感性互動。保羅認為，如果兩種考量發生衝突時，應該以第二種考量作為優先。這樣的論述表示，當恩典與真理發生衝突時，應該優先考慮恩典的議題。愛是不加害於人的，所以愛就完全了律法 (羅13:10)。保羅這種論述，是站在神學知識比較正確者的角度來看這個議題，神學知識比較正確的人，應該多考慮自己的言行，是否會造成神學知識比較不正確者之傷害。可是，如果這種論述，被神學知識必較不正確者濫用，拿來反客為主，強制神學正確者必須按照神學不正確者的想法來行事，則是本末倒置了。另外，保羅似乎在這裡也沒有談到，如何在愛心裡說誠實話，以及如何教導這些真理知識比較不正確者，好讓他們在這方面也能夠學習成長，這個議題就會自然消失了。
題目: 基督徒是否可以吃祭拜偶像後的食物？保羅的教導是什麼？你的看法與經驗是什麼？
8:1 論到祭偶像之物，我們曉得我們都有知識。但知識是叫人自高自大，惟有愛心能造就人。
Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that "all of us possess knowledge." "Knowledge" puffs up, but love builds up.
8:2 若有人以為自己知道甚麼，按他所當知道的，他仍是不知道。
If any one imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know.
8:3 若有人愛 神，這人乃是 神所知道的。
But if one loves God, one is known by him.
8:4 論到吃祭偶像之物，我們知道偶像在世上算不得甚麼，也知道 神只有一位，再沒有別的 神。
Hence, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that "an idol has no real existence," and that "there is no God but one."
8:5 雖有稱為 神的，或在天，或在地，就如那許多的 神，許多的主；
For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth -- as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords" --
8:6 然而我們只有一位 神，就是父，萬物都本於他；我們也歸於他─並有一位主，就是耶穌基督─萬物都是藉著他有的；我們也是藉著他有的。
yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.
8:7 但人不都有這等知識。有人到如今因拜慣了偶像，就以為所吃的是祭偶像之物。他們的良心既然軟弱，也就污穢了。
However, not all possess this knowledge. But some, through being hitherto accustomed to idols, eat food as really offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
8:8 其實食物不能叫 神看中我們，因為我們不吃也無損，吃也無益。
Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do.
8:9 只是你們要謹慎，恐怕你們這自由竟成了那軟弱人的絆腳石。
Only take care lest this liberty of yours somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.
8:10 若有人見你這有知識的，在偶像的廟裡坐席，這人的良心，若是軟弱，豈不放膽去吃那祭偶像之物嗎？
For if any one sees you, a man of knowledge, at table in an idol's temple, might he not be encouraged, if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols?
8:11 因此，基督為他死的那軟弱弟兄，也就因你的知識沉淪了。
And so by your knowledge this weak man is destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died.
8:12 你們這樣得罪弟兄們，傷了他們軟弱的良心，就是得罪基督。
Thus, sinning against your brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.
8:13 所以，食物若叫我弟兄跌倒，我就永遠不吃肉，免得叫我弟兄跌倒了。
Therefore, if food is a cause of my brother's falling, I will never eat meat, lest I cause my brother to fall.
Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that "all of us possess knowledge." "Knowledge" puffs up, but love builds up.

基督徒是否可以吃祭拜偶像後的食物? 使徒保羅的教導: 吃祭拜偶像後的食物全在乎各人的信心如何。吃祭拜偶像後的食物, 1) 對身體沒有益處。 2) 會絆倒別人。為了「不叫人跌倒」, 寧可不吃，這是基督徒行事為人的原則。
