經文: 出埃及記 20:8-11 「當記念安息日，守為聖日。六日要勞碌做你一切的工，但第七日是向耶和華你神當守的安息日。這一日你和你的兒女、僕婢、牲畜，並你城裡寄居的客旅，無論何工都不可做；因為六日之內，耶和華造天、地、海，和其中的萬物，第七日便安息，所以耶和華賜福與安息日，定為聖日。
默想: 在這裡安息日的由來是從上帝六日創造天地萬物，第七日便安息，並且賜福該日，成為聖日。耶和華為以色列人定下安息日，是要以色列人六日要勞碌做工，但是第七日要守安息日，不只自己要守安息日，連家裡的僕婢、牲畜、寄居客旅，都要讓他們享受安息。看來，上帝設立安息日，是特別關照那些弱勢族群的需求。台灣最近頻頻發生過勞死的不幸事件，正是提醒我們，人是不能不眠不休的工作下去，是需要休息的。
題目: 20：3-11 在十誡裡說出人對上帝應有的態度與本分為何？你有何看法與經驗？
20:1 神吩咐這一切的話說：
And God spoke all these words, saying,
20:2 「我是耶和華─你的 神，曾將你從埃及地為奴之家領出來。
"I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
20:3 「除了我以外，你不可有別的神。
"You shall have no other gods before me.
20:4 「不可為自己雕刻偶像，也不可做甚麼形像彷彿上天、下地，和地底下、水中的百物。
"You shall not make for yourself a graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
20:5 不可跪拜那些像，也不可事奉他，因為我耶和華─你的 神是忌邪的 神。恨我的，我必追討他的罪，自父及子，直到三四代；
you shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,
20:6 愛我、守我誡命的，我必向他們發慈愛，直到千代。
but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
20:7 「不可妄稱耶和華─你 神的名；因為妄稱耶和華名的，耶和華必不以他為無罪。
"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
20:8 「當記念安息日，守為聖日。
"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
20:9 六日要勞碌做你一切的工，
Six days you shall labor, and do all your work;
20:10 但第七日是向耶和華─你 神當守的安息日。這一日你和你的兒女、僕婢、牲畜，並你城裡寄居的客旅，無論何工都不可做；
but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your manservant, or your maidservant, or your cattle, or the sojourner who is within your gates;
20:11 因為六日之內，耶和華造天、地、海，和其中的萬物，第七日便安息，所以耶和華賜福與安息日，定為聖日。
for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it.
20:12 「當孝敬父母，使你的日子在耶和華─你 神所賜你的地上得以長久。
"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
20:13 「不可殺人。
"You shall not kill.
20:14 「不可姦淫。
"You shall not commit adultery.
20:15 「不可偷盜。
"You shall not steal.
20:16 「不可作假見證陷害人。
"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
20:17 「不可貪戀人的房屋；也不可貪戀人的妻子、僕婢、牛驢，並他一切所有的。」
"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ass, or anything that is your neighbor's."
20:18 眾百姓見雷轟、閃電、角聲、山上冒煙，就都發顫，遠遠地站立，
Now when all the people perceived the thunderings and the lightnings and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking, the people were afraid and trembled; and they stood afar off,
20:19 對摩西說：「求你和我們說話，我們必聽；不要 神和我們說話，恐怕我們死亡。」
and said to Moses, "You speak to us, and we will hear; but let not God speak to us, lest we die."
20:20 摩西對百姓說：「不要懼怕；因為 神降臨是要試驗你們，叫你們時常敬畏他，不致犯罪。」
And Moses said to the people, "Do not fear; for God has come to prove you, and that the fear of him may be before your eyes, that you may not sin."
20:21 於是百姓遠遠地站立；摩西就挨近 神所在的幽暗之中。
And the people stood afar off, while Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.
20:22 耶和華對摩西說：「你要向以色列人這樣說：『你們自己看見我從天上和你們說話了。
And the LORD said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the people of Israel: `You have seen for yourselves that I have talked with you from heaven.
20:23 你們不可做甚麼神像與我相配，不可為自己做金銀的神像。
You shall not make gods of silver to be with me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.
20:24 你要為我築土壇，在上面以牛羊獻為燔祭和平安祭。凡記下我名的地方，我必到那裡賜福給你。
An altar of earth you shall make for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen; in every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to you and bless you.
20:25 你若為我築一座石壇，不可用鑿成的石頭，因你在上頭一動家具，就把壇污穢了。
And if you make me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stones; for if you wield your tool upon it you profane it.
20:26 你上我的壇，不可用臺階，免得露出你的下體來。』」
And you shall not go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness be not exposed on it.'
And God spoke all these words, saying,
