W3 2013-02-20 (帖前2)
經文:
2:1 弟兄們，你們自己原曉得我們進到你們那裡並不是徒然的。
2:2 我們從前在腓立比被害受辱，這是你們知道的；然而還是靠我們的 神放開膽量，在大爭戰中把 神的福音傳給你們。
2:3 我們的勸勉不是出於錯誤，不是出於污穢，也不是用詭詐。
2:4 但 神既然驗中了我們，把福音託付我們，我們就照樣講，不是要討人喜歡，乃是要討那察驗我們心的 神喜歡。
2:5 因為我們從來沒有用過諂媚的話，這是你們知道的；也沒有藏著貪心，這是 神可以作見證的。
2:6 我們作基督的使徒，雖然可以叫人尊重，卻沒有向你們或向別人求榮耀；
2:7 只在你們中間存心溫柔，如同母親乳養自己的孩子。
2:8 我們既是這樣愛你們，不但願意將 神的福音給你們，連自己的性命也願意給你們，因你們是我們所疼愛的。
2:9 弟兄們，你們記念我們的辛苦勞碌，晝夜做工，傳 神的福音給你們，免得叫你們一人受累。
2:10 我們向你們信主的人，是何等聖潔、公義、無可指摘，有你們作見證，也有 神作見證。
2:11 你們也曉得，我們怎樣勸勉你們，安慰你們，囑咐你們各人，好像父親待自己的兒女一樣，
2:12 要叫你們行事對得起那召你們進他國、得他榮耀的 神。
默想: 我們可以說保羅在帖前2章中有留下幾個重要的形像
首先，他是一個是忠心的管家(1-6)
保羅是以一個「爭戰」的態度來傳道，他所傳講的是照神所託付的，不是出於污穢，也沒有使用詭詐。在他的動機中，也沒有藏著貪心，或是要討人歡喜。他沒有用過諂媚的話，也不求人的榮耀，在他的心中，只有一件事，就是要討那驗人心的上帝喜歡。
其次他如同一位母親(7-8)
保羅是一個「存心溫柔」，用分賜生命的方式來乳養信徒。並且愛他們，就甘願給自己的性命，去疼愛信徒。
最後他如同一位父親(9-12)
保羅是「辛苦勞碌、晝夜作工」不叫一人受累。他常常以身作則，在許多事情上表現出「聖潔、公義、無可指摘」。用話語來勸勉、安慰、囑咐信徒。使他們能夠與上帝發生直接關係，真實地認識神。
凡是保羅所做的，就是希望上帝的道能夠真實地在他們心中作工，並且以門徒為他的榮耀與喜樂。
題目: 保羅在帖撒羅尼迦傳福音有留下那些美好的榜樣呢？
2:1 弟兄們，你們自己原曉得我們進到你們那裡並不是徒然的。
For you yourselves know, brethren, that our visit to you was not in vain;
2:2 我們從前在腓立比被害受辱，這是你們知道的；然而還是靠我們的 神放開膽量，在大爭戰中把 神的福音傳給你們。
but though we had already suffered and been shamefully treated at Philip'pi, as you know, we had courage in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in the face of great opposition.
2:3 我們的勸勉不是出於錯誤，不是出於污穢，也不是用詭詐。
For our appeal does not spring from error or uncleanness, nor is it made with guile;
2:4 但 神既然驗中了我們，把福音託付我們，我們就照樣講，不是要討人喜歡，乃是要討那察驗我們心的 神喜歡。
but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please men, but to please God who tests our hearts.
2:5 因為我們從來沒有用過諂媚的話，這是你們知道的；也沒有藏著貪心，這是 神可以作見證的。
For we never used either words of flattery, as you know, or a cloak for greed, as God is witness;
2:6 我們作基督的使徒，雖然可以叫人尊重，卻沒有向你們或向別人求榮耀；
nor did we seek glory from men, whether from you or from others, though we might have made demands as apostles of Christ.
2:7 只在你們中間存心溫柔，如同母親乳養自己的孩子。
But we were gentle among you, like a nurse taking care of her children.
2:8 我們既是這樣愛你們，不但願意將 神的福音給你們，連自己的性命也願意給你們，因你們是我們所疼愛的。
So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.
2:9 弟兄們，你們記念我們的辛苦勞碌，晝夜做工，傳 神的福音給你們，免得叫你們一人受累。
For you remember our labor and toil, brethren; we worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you, while we preached to you the gospel of God.
2:10 我們向你們信主的人，是何等聖潔、公義、無可指摘，有你們作見證，也有 神作見證。
You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our behavior to you believers;
2:11 你們也曉得，我們怎樣勸勉你們，安慰你們，囑咐你們各人，好像父親待自己的兒女一樣，
for you know how, like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you
2:12 要叫你們行事對得起那召你們進他國、得他榮耀的 神。
to lead a life worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.
2:13 為此，我們也不住地感謝 神，因你們聽見我們所傳 神的道就領受了；不以為是人的道，乃以為是 神的道。這道實在是 神的，並且運行在你們信主的人心中。
And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
2:14 弟兄們，你們曾效法猶太中在基督耶穌裡 神的各教會；因為你們也受了本地人的苦害，像他們受了猶太人的苦害一樣。
For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus which are in Judea; for you suffered the same things from your own countrymen as they did from the Jews,
2:15 這猶太人殺了主耶穌和先知，又把我們趕出去。他們不得 神的喜悅，且與眾人為敵，
who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out, and displease God and oppose all men
2:16 不許我們傳道給外邦人使外邦人得救，常常充滿自己的罪惡。 神的忿怒臨在他們身上已經到了極處。
by hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they may be saved -- so as always to fill up the measure of their sins. But God's wrath has come upon them at last!
2:17 弟兄們，我們暫時與你們離別，是面目離別，心裡卻不離別；我們極力地想法子，很願意見你們的面。
But since we were bereft of you, brethren, for a short time, in person not in heart, we endeavored the more eagerly and with great desire to see you face to face;
2:18 所以我們有意到你們那裡；我─保羅有一兩次要去，只是撒但阻擋了我們。
because we wanted to come to you -- I, Paul, again and again -- but Satan hindered us.
2:19 我們的盼望和喜樂，並所誇的冠冕是甚麼呢？豈不是我們主耶穌來的時候、你們在他面前站立得住嗎？
For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not you?
2:20 因為你們就是我們的榮耀，我們的喜樂。
For you are our glory and joy.
