經文: 撒母耳記下 11:25 王向使者說：「你告訴約押說：『不要因這事愁悶，刀劍或吞滅這人或吞滅那人，沒有一定的；你只管竭力攻城，將城傾覆。』可以用這話勉勵約押。」
默想: 在這段經文當中，我們看到大衛為了掩飾自己強暴人妻拔示巴之淫亂罪行，而利用戰爭作為幌子，唆使將軍約押，藉著敵人的刀箭，將拔示巴的先生赫人烏利亞殺死在戰場。約押將軍這次似乎也沒有規勸大衛王，不要一錯再錯，而是就順從大衛王這種很不道德的指示，進行這一次借刀殺人來謀殺自己手下一位忠心耿耿的士兵。這很像當年德國的醫師，聽從希特勒的命令，用很不道德的手段，來屠殺大量的猶太人。當紐倫堡大審時，這些醫師就以聽命行事來答辯，最後都被判為有罪。求主保守我，在是非善惡上面，要存著敬畏耶和華的心，勇敢的做獨立的判斷，不要企圖躲在上級的錯誤命令中，來逃避自己當負的倫理抉擇責任。
題目: 大衛擁有權勢後，第一次落入道德陷阱，若沒人發現大衛所為，他將會麻木不仁。但上主對大衛所做之事十分不悅(V26)。試想自以為只要麻木不仁的過日子，上主是因愛他才管教他。
11:1 過了一年，到列王出戰的時候，大衛又差派約押，率領臣僕和以色列眾人出戰。他們就打敗亞捫人，圍攻拉巴。大衛仍住在耶路撒冷。
In the spring of the year, the time when kings go forth to battle, David sent Jo'ab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they ravaged the Ammonites, and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.
11:2 一日，太陽平西，大衛從床上起來，在王宮的平頂上遊行，看見一個婦人沐浴，容貌甚美，
It happened, late one afternoon, when David arose from his couch and was walking upon the roof of the king's house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful.
11:3 大衛就差人打聽那婦人是誰。有人說：「她是以連的女兒，赫人烏利亞的妻拔示巴。」
And David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, "Is not this Bathshe'ba, the daughter of Eli'am, the wife of Uri'ah the Hittite?"
11:4 大衛差人去，將婦人接來；那時她的月經才得潔淨。她來了，大衛與她同房，她就回家去了。
So David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her. (Now she was purifying herself from her uncleanness.) Then she returned to her house.
11:5 於是她懷了孕，打發人去告訴大衛說：「我懷了孕。」
And the woman conceived; and she sent and told David, "I am with child."
11:6 大衛差人到約押那裡，說：「你打發赫人烏利亞到我這裡來。」約押就打發烏利亞去見大衛。
So David sent word to Jo'ab, "Send me Uri'ah the Hittite." And Jo'ab sent Uri'ah to David.
11:7 烏利亞來了，大衛問約押好，也問兵好，又問爭戰的事怎樣。
When Uri'ah came to him, David asked how Jo'ab was doing, and how the people fared, and how the war prospered.
11:8 大衛對烏利亞說：「你回家去，洗洗腳吧！」烏利亞出了王宮，隨後王送他一分食物。
Then David said to Uri'ah, "Go down to your house, and wash your feet." And Uri'ah went out of the king's house, and there followed him a present from the king.
11:9 烏利亞卻和他主人的僕人一同睡在宮門外，沒有回家去。
But Uri'ah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and did not go down to his house.
11:10 有人告訴大衛說：「烏利亞沒有回家去。」大衛就問烏利亞說：「你從遠路上來，為甚麼不回家去呢？」
When they told David, "Uri'ah did not go down to his house," David said to Uri'ah, "Have you not come from a journey? Why did you not go down to your house?"
11:11 烏利亞對大衛說：「約櫃和以色列與猶大兵都住在棚裡，我主約押和我主（或譯：王）的僕人都在田野安營，我豈可回家吃喝、與妻子同寢呢？我敢在王面前起誓（原文是我指著王和王的性命起誓）：我決不行這事！」
Uri'ah said to David, "The ark and Israel and Judah dwell in booths; and my lord Jo'ab and the servants of my lord are camping in the open field; shall I then go to my house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing."
11:12 大衛吩咐烏利亞說：「你今日仍住在這裡，明日我打發你去。」於是烏利亞那日和次日住在耶路撒冷。
Then David said to Uri'ah, "Remain here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart." So Uri'ah remained in Jerusalem that day, and the next.
11:13 大衛召了烏利亞來，叫他在自己面前吃喝，使他喝醉。到了晚上，烏利亞出去與他主的僕人一同住宿，還沒有回到家裡去。
And David invited him, and he ate in his presence and drank, so that he made him drunk; and in the evening he went out to lie on his couch with the servants of his lord, but he did not go down to his house.
11:14 次日早晨，大衛寫信與約押，交烏利亞隨手帶去。
In the morning David wrote a letter to Jo'ab, and sent it by the hand of Uri'ah.
11:15 信內寫著說：「要派烏利亞前進，到陣勢極險之處，你們便退後，使他被殺。」
In the letter he wrote, "Set Uri'ah in the forefront of the hardest fighting, and then draw back from him, that he may be struck down, and die."
11:16 約押圍城的時候，知道敵人那裡有勇士，便將烏利亞派在那裡。
And as Jo'ab was besieging the city, he assigned Uri'ah to the place where he knew there were valiant men.
11:17 城裡的人出來和約押打仗；大衛的僕人中有幾個被殺的，赫人烏利亞也死了。
And the men of the city came out and fought with Jo'ab; and some of the servants of David among the people fell. Uri'ah the Hittite was slain also.
11:18 於是，約押差人去將爭戰的一切事告訴大衛，
Then Jo'ab sent and told David all the news about the fighting;
11:19 又囑咐使者說：「你把爭戰的一切事對王說完了，
and he instructed the messenger, "When you have finished telling all the news about the fighting to the king,
11:20 王若發怒，問你說：『你們打仗為甚麼挨近城牆呢？豈不知敵人必從城上射箭麼？
then, if the king's anger rises, and if he says to you, `Why did you go so near the city to fight? Did you not know that they would shoot from the wall?
11:21 從前打死耶路比設（就是耶路巴力，見士師記九章一節）兒子亞比米勒的是誰呢？豈不是一個婦人從城上拋下一塊上磨石來，打在他身上，他就死在提備斯麼？你們為甚麼挨近城牆呢？』你就說：『王的僕人─赫人烏利亞也死了。』」
Who killed Abim'elech the son of Jerub'besheth? Did not a woman cast an upper millstone upon him from the wall, so that he died at Thebez? Why did you go so near the wall?' then you shall say, `Your servant Uri'ah the Hittite is dead also.'"
11:22 使者起身，來見大衛，照著約押所吩咐他的話奏告大衛。
So the messenger went, and came and told David all that Jo'ab had sent him to tell.
11:23 使者對大衛說：「敵人強過我們，出到郊野與我們打仗，我們追殺他們，直到城門口。
The messenger said to David, "The men gained an advantage over us, and came out against us in the field; but we drove them back to the entrance of the gate.
11:24 射箭的從城上射王的僕人，射死幾個，赫人烏利亞也死了。」
Then the archers shot at your servants from the wall; some of the king's servants are dead; and your servant Uri'ah the Hittite is dead also."
11:25 王向使者說：「你告訴約押說：『不要因這事愁悶，刀劍或吞滅這人或吞滅那人，沒有一定的；你只管竭力攻城，將城傾覆。』可以用這話勉勵約押。」
David said to the messenger, "Thus shall you say to Jo'ab, `Do not let this matter trouble you, for the sword devours now one and now another; strengthen your attack upon the city, and overthrow it.' And encourage him."
11:26 烏利亞的妻聽見丈夫烏利亞死了，就為他哀哭。
When the wife of Uri'ah heard that Uri'ah her husband was dead, she made lamentation for her husband.
11:27 哀哭的日子過了，大衛差人將她接到宮裡，她就作了大衛的妻，給大衛生了一個兒子。但大衛所行的這事，耶和華甚不喜悅。
And when the mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.

11:7 烏利亞來了，大衛問約押好，也問兵好，又問爭戰的事怎樣。
When Uri'ah came to him, David asked how Jo'ab was doing, and how the people fared, and how the war prospered.
11:8 大衛對烏利亞說：「你回家去，洗洗腳吧！」烏利亞出了王宮，隨後王送他一分食物。

When they told David, "Uri'ah did not go down to his house," David said to Uri'ah, "Have you not come from a journey? Why did you not go down to your house?"

and he instructed the messenger, "When you have finished telling all the news about the fighting to the king,
11:20 王若發怒，問你說：『你們打仗為甚麼挨近城牆呢？豈不知敵人必從城上射箭麼？
then, if the king's anger rises, and if he says to you, `Why did you go so near the city to fight? Did you not know that they would shoot from the wall?

2. 婚姻，人人都當尊重，床也不可汙穢，因為苟合行淫的人，上帝必要審判。(來13：4）
3. 保羅給以弗所教會信徒的信，勸勉他們要脫去從前行為上的舊人，將你們的心志改換一新，穿上新人；這新人是照著神的形像造的，有真理的仁義和聖潔。所以你們要棄絕謊言，各人與鄰舍說實話，因為我們是互相為肢體。生氣卻不要犯罪；不可含怒到日落；「不可給魔鬼留地步」。（以弗所書 4:22-27）。
從撒上到撒下11章，大衛一路走來，給人的印象是英武、虔誠、寬宏大量和聖潔，因此被稱為合神心意的人，是值得尊敬的模範。但後來大衛退出戰場，留在皇宮，看見拔示巴沐浴，色心大起，把她姦淫，又殺夫奪妻，犯下姦淫罪，耶和華甚不喜悅。（撒下11：27）。可見以往顯赫的成功並不保證永遠都能成功的，同時也證明大衛不是十全十美的，
這章聖經最後一句，「。。。但大衛所行的這事，耶和華甚不喜悅」，提醒我們, 不要以為犯罪，那隱而未現代罪，沒有人知道，天上的父神也看不到，我可胡亂作為。但以弗所書4：27節也告訴我們：「不可給魔鬼留地步」， 這是絕對的真理，但這種罪如嫉忌、傲慢和貪婪等心裏的罪，帶給人類行為邪惡的影響。這些壞事絕不能逃過上帝的眼目。大衛犯錯後如能及時悔改就不致再闖下彌天大禍了。須知道罪是有連鎖性的，從眼目的情欲，動了淫念，想法子行淫，掩蓋事實，製造假像，掩人耳目，謀殺烏利亞，霸佔人妻。。。種種罪性罪行，這種罪是有連鎖性的，醜露無遺。
以後的經文，我們可看到犯了淫亂罪的大衛。因此受了耶和華，嚴厲的管教。求主幫助我們，「不可給魔鬼留地步」。若不小心犯了罪，趕快認罪悔改。絕不可試圖掩飾自己的罪，必會弄至罪上加罪。大衛的失敗不單自己蒙羞，更連累他人。結了婚的人，必須謹守婚約。對婚姻的態度，人人（作丈夫的，作妻子的）都當彼此尊重婚姻的誓言，床也不可汙穢，因為苟合行淫的人，上帝必要審判。(來13：4），
