經文: 創世紀 50:26 約瑟死了，正一百一十歲。人用香料將他薰了，把他收殮在棺材裡，停在埃及。
默想: 約瑟去世時，並沒有像雅各一樣，要求遺族將他的遺骸埋葬到迦南地的祖墳裡面。約瑟是要人將他的遺骸暫厝在埃及。他要留在埃及陪伴以色列人，一直到他們被耶和華帶領，離開埃及，前往迦南時，才將他的遺骸從埃及帶返迦南地。這表示約瑟對於耶和華應許的信心。由於雅各在去世之前將示劍那塊地給與約瑟 (創48:22)，因此，當約書亞帶領以色列人進入迦南地時，就將約瑟的遺骸安置到示劍 (書24:32)。

50:1 約瑟伏在他父親的面上哀哭，與他親嘴。
Then Joseph fell on his father's face, and wept over him, and kissed him.
50:2 約瑟吩咐伺候他的醫生用香料薰他父親，醫生就用香料薰了以色列。
And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father. So the physicians embalmed Israel;
50:3 薰屍的常例是四十天；那四十天滿了，埃及人為他哀哭了七十天。
forty days were required for it, for so many are required for embalming. And the Egyptians wept for him seventy days.
50:4 為他哀哭的日子過了，約瑟對法老家中的人說：「我若在你們眼前蒙恩，請你們報告法老說：
And when the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph spoke to the household of Pharaoh, saying, "If now I have found favor in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
50:5 『我父親要死的時候叫我起誓說：你要將我葬在迦南地，在我為自己所掘的墳墓裡。』現在求你讓我上去葬我父親，以後我必回來。」
My father made me swear, saying, `I am about to die: in my tomb which I hewed out for myself in the land of Canaan , there shall you bury me.' Now therefore let me go up, I pray you, and bury my father; then I will return."
50:6 法老說：「你可以上去，照著你父親叫你起的誓，將他葬埋。」
And Pharaoh answered, "Go up, and bury your father, as he made you swear."
50:7 於是約瑟上去葬他父親。與他一同上去的，有法老的臣僕和法老家中的長老，並埃及國的長老，
So Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his household, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,
50:8 還有約瑟的全家和他的弟兄們，並他父親的眷屬；只有他們的婦人孩子，和羊群牛群，都留在歌珊地。
as well as all the household of Joseph, his brothers, and his father's household; only their children, their flocks, and their herds were left in the land of Goshen .
50:9 又有車輛馬兵，和他一同上去；那一幫人甚多。
And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen; it was a very great company.
50:10 他們到了約旦河外、亞達的禾場，就在那裡大大地號咷痛哭。約瑟為他父親哀哭了七天。
When they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan , they lamented there with a very great and sorrowful lamentation; and he made a mourning for his father seven days.
50:11 迦南的居民見亞達禾場上的哀哭，就說：「這是埃及人一場極大的哀哭。」因此那地方名叫亞伯‧麥西，是在約旦河東。
When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning on the threshing floor of Atad, they said, "This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians." Therefore the place was named A'bel-mizraim; it is beyond the Jordan .
50:12 雅各的兒子們就遵著他父親所吩咐的辦了，
Thus his sons did for him as he had commanded them;
50:13 把他搬到迦南地，葬在幔利前、麥比拉田間的洞裡；那洞和田是亞伯拉罕向赫人以弗崙買來為業，作墳地的。
for his sons carried him to the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field at Mach-pe'lah, to the east of Mamre, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite, to possess as a burying place.
50:14 約瑟葬了他父親以後，就和眾弟兄，並一切同他上去葬他父親的人，都回埃及去了。
After he had buried his father, Joseph returned to Egypt with his brothers and all who had gone up with him to bury his father.
50:15 約瑟的哥哥們見父親死了，就說：「或者約瑟懷恨我們，照著我們從前待他一切的惡足足的報復我們。」
When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, "It may be that Joseph will hate us and pay us back for all the evil which we did to him."
50:16 他們就打發人去見約瑟，說：「你父親未死以先吩咐說：
So they sent a message to Joseph, saying, "Your father gave this command before he died,
50:17 『你們要對約瑟這樣說：從前你哥哥們惡待你，求你饒恕他們的過犯和罪惡。』如今求你饒恕你父親 神之僕人的過犯。」他們對約瑟說這話，約瑟就哭了。
`Say to Joseph, Forgive, I pray you, the transgression of your brothers and their sin, because they did evil to you.' And now, we pray you, forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father." Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
50:18 他的哥哥們又來俯伏在他面前，說：「我們是你的僕人。」
His brothers also came and fell down before him, and said, "Behold, we are your servants."
50:19 約瑟對他們說：「不要害怕，我豈能代替 神呢？
But Joseph said to them, "Fear not, for am I in the place of God?
50:20 從前你們的意思是要害我，但 神的意思原是好的，要保全許多人的性命，成就今日的光景。
As for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
50:21 現在你們不要害怕，我必養活你們和你們的婦人孩子。」於是約瑟用親愛的話安慰他們。
So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones." Thus he reassured them and comforted them.
50:22 約瑟和他父親的眷屬都住在埃及。約瑟活了一百一十歲。
So Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he and his father's house; and Joseph lived a hundred and ten years.
50:23 約瑟得見以法蓮第三代的子孫。瑪拿西的孫子、瑪吉的兒子也養在約瑟的膝上。
And Joseph saw E'phraim's children of the third generation; the children also of Machir the son of Manas'seh were born upon Joseph's knees.
50:24 約瑟對他弟兄們說：「我要死了，但 神必定看顧你們，領你們從這地上去，到他起誓所應許給亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各之地。」
And Joseph said to his brothers, "I am about to die; but God will visit you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob."
50:25 約瑟叫以色列的子孫起誓說：「 神必定看顧你們；你們要把我的骸骨從這裡搬上去。」
Then Joseph took an oath of the sons of Israel, saying, "God will visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here."
50:26 約瑟死了，正一百一十歲。人用香料將他薰了，把他收殮在棺材裡，停在埃及。
So Joseph died, being a hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
