經文: 馬太福音 4:3 那試探人的進前來，對他說：「你若是神的兒子，可以吩咐這些石頭變成食物。」
默想: 主耶穌才在不久前到約旦河接受施洗約翰的洗禮。在從水裡上來時，天開了，聖靈彷彿鴿子降臨在他身上，他也親耳聽到從天上有聲音說，這是我的愛子，我所喜悅的。但是，在受洗之後，主耶穌被聖靈催逼，前往曠野受魔鬼的試探。魔鬼就是從主耶穌與上帝的關係開始著手。他先要破壞主耶穌與上帝所建立那親密的父子關係，首先是讓主耶穌對於上帝所曾經親口說出的話，產生懷疑。撒旦的第一句話是，你若是神的兒子。上帝是說，你是我的愛子。還記得撒旦在伊甸園中對於亞當與夏娃的引誘，也是從這個角度下手，上帝很清楚告訴亞當說，園子當中那一棵分別善惡樹的果子，絕對不可以吃，因為你吃的當天會死。撒旦也是用迂迴間接的請問句，向夏娃說，神豈是真說，園中所有樹上的果子都不可以吃嗎？求主幫助 我，對於上帝所說的話語，要有堅定的信心。對於上帝對我的愛以及與我的父子關係，能夠有確信，才不會讓魔鬼有機會，進行挑撥離間的機會。

4:1 當時，耶穌被聖靈引到曠野，受魔鬼的試探。
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
4:2 他禁食四十晝夜，後來就餓了。
And he fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward he was hungry.
4:3 那試探人的進前來，對他說：「你若是 神的兒子，可以吩咐這些石頭變成食物。」
And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread."
4:4 耶穌卻回答說：「經上記著說：人活著，不是單靠食物，乃是靠 神口裡所出的一切話。」
But he answered, "It is written, `Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"
4:5 魔鬼就帶他進了聖城，叫他站在殿頂（頂：原文是翅）上，
Then the devil took him to the holy city, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple,
4:6 對他說：「你若是 神的兒子，可以跳下去，因為經上記著說：主要為你吩咐他的使者用手托著你，免得你的腳碰在石頭上。」
and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written, `He will give his angels charge of you,' and `On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.'"
4:7 耶穌對他說：「經上又記著說：『不可試探主─你的 神。』」
Jesus said to him, "Again it is written, `You shall not tempt the Lord your God.'"
4:8 魔鬼又帶他上了一座最高的山，將世上的萬國與萬國的榮華都指給他看，
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them;
4:9 對他說：「你若俯伏拜我，我就把這一切都賜給你。」
and he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me."
4:10 耶穌說：「撒但（撒但就是抵擋的意思，乃魔鬼的別名），退去吧！因為經上記著說：當拜主你的 神，單要事奉他。」
Then Jesus said to him, "Begone, Satan! for it is written, `You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'"
4:11 於是，魔鬼離了耶穌，有天使來伺候他。
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.
4:12 耶穌聽見約翰下了監，就退到加利利去；
Now when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee;
4:13 後又離開拿撒勒，往迦百農去，就住在那裡。那地方靠海，在西布倫和拿弗他利的邊界上。
and leaving Nazareth he went and dwelt in Caper'na-um by the sea, in the territory of Zeb'ulun and Naph'tali,
4:14 這是要應驗先知以賽亞的話，
that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
4:15 說：西布倫地，拿弗他利地，就是沿海的路，約旦河外，外邦人的加利利地。
"The land of Zeb'ulun and the land of Naph'tali, toward the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles --
4:16 那坐在黑暗裡的百姓看見了大光；坐在死蔭之地的人有光發現照著他們。
the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned."
4:17 從那時候，耶穌就傳起道來，說：「天國近了，你們應當悔改！」
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
4:18 耶穌在加利利海邊行走，看見弟兄二人，就是那稱呼彼得的西門和他兄弟安得烈，在海裡撒網；他們本是打魚的。
As he walked by the Sea of Galilee , he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
4:19 耶穌對他們說：「來跟從我，我要叫你們得人如得魚一樣。」
And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
4:20 他們就立刻捨了網，跟從了他。
Immediately they left their nets and followed him.
4:21 從那裡往前走，又看見弟兄二人，就是西庇太的兒子雅各和他兄弟約翰，同他們的父親西庇太在船上補網，耶穌就招呼他們，
And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zeb'edee and John his brother, in the boat with Zeb'edee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.
4:22 他們立刻捨了船，別了父親，跟從了耶穌。
Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed him.
4:23 耶穌走遍加利利，在各會堂裡教訓人，傳天國的福音，醫治百姓各樣的病症。
And he went about all Galilee , teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every infirmity among the people.
4:24 他的名聲就傳遍了敘利亞。那裡的人把一切害病的，就是害各樣疾病、各樣疼痛的和被鬼附的、癲癇的、癱瘓的，都帶了來，耶穌就治好了他們。
So his fame spread throughout all Syria , and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them.
4:25 當下，有許多人從加利利、低加坡里、耶路撒冷、猶太、約旦河外來跟著他。
And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decap'olis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan .
